14 Things To Buy Yourself This Valentine's Day
Mint Life

It is the time of year again that most single people dread and couples anxiously wait for. Valentine's Day is here! Love is in the air and it doesn’t matter if you are single or not. If you are single it is time to stop hating Valentine's Day and show your love…for yourself! Take advantage of this day of love and shower yourself with presents. Who says you need a significant other to buy you gifts? Buy them for yourself! I’ll take any excuse to buy myself a little treat.

So go ahead and treat yourself to a little something.

1. Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Chocolate and strawberries are the perfect combination. You can go buy fancy ones at a store, or you can make them yourself!

2. Bouquet of Flowers

Who says you can't buy yourself flowers? Flowers are perfect to brighten up the room and their aroma will put you in a good mood.

3. Pink Wine

It's pink and it's wine! The perfect alcoholic beverage to buy yourself to maybe take away some of the stress that comes along with this day.

4. Movies

Go to the store and buy yourself a romantic movie like "The Notebook" (or "Magic Mike" if aren't up for some tears) to watch while you eat all your other treats.

5. Jewelry

If you really want to show yourself some love, then buy yourself jewelry! My favorite is basically anything in the Kendra Scott collection. Many places have Valentine's Day sets for special values!

6. Perfume

Treating yourself with a nice perfume is a great idea. My personal favorite is the Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. Spray some on and walk around town confidently!

7. Candy Hearts

Valentine's Day isn't complete until you indulge in the staple candy: candy hearts. Who doesn't love reading the cute little messages on them?

8. S'Well Water Bottle

S'Well water bottles are a big trend this year, especially with college students! Treat yourself to one and stay hydrated!

9. Fuzzy Socks

Fuzzy socks are a must have for any cozy night. Around this time there are many cute heart patterns!

10. Lush Bath Bombs

Want a perfect way to end the night? Make yourself a warm bath and put a bath bomb from Lush in! Take some time to unwind and relax.

11. Ice Cream

Grab a pint of ice cream and a spoon and eat it right out of the carton. You might be single, but at least you have ice cream.

12. Makeup

You deserve to go and splurge on some makeup. You don't have to try and look good for others; you should just have fun with it for yourself!

13. Candles

Aroma therapy is perfect to unwind and destress. Pick your favorite scent and enjoy!

14. A Dog

If you want to get really crazy, go and get yourself a little fur-baby! They are the perfect companion.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
