14 Things They Don't Tell You About College

I wish I knew what to expect.

Senior Fall is a mess, is it not? All of these adults pushing you to apply to the best schools around, telling you how to answer application questions, and constantly reminding you that going to college is essential to succeeding in life. Needless to say, the constant pressure gets overwhelming and makes for many sleepless nights that no amount of under-eye concealer can hide. Senior Spring is stressful, but much more manageable. Prom planning, dorm decor shopping, and maintaining a mediocre GPA to graduate. This is when adults tell you that college will be the time of your life, that you will make life-long friends, and you will soon be making special bonds with your roommates. Oh, but I so wish they had warned us of the horrors.

1. Endless studying

You actually have to try, and boy does it take a lot of time.

2. Extreme exhaustion

What is sleep? I have no idea anymore.

3. Roommate drama

Even if you get along perfectly fine, some shade will be thrown at one point or another.

4. Professor problems

Some are sweet and understanding, but others are grumpy and simply do not give a damn.

5. Junk food diet

Chips, soda, and Ramen may not be healthy by any means, but they are cheap and do the job, so they will have to do for these four years.

6. Still being treated like a child

They want you to be mature and do adult things, but their talking down to you will never end.

7. Cafeteria/food court staff become family

The stir fry lady is basically my mom now - she knows what I need and never fails me.

8. Scheduling your own appointments

It is such a normal thing to do but suddenly you are shy.

9. Being freaked out when your roommate sleeps somewhere else

Too spooky.

10. Tinder chronicles

That awkward moment when you match with the dude that sits behind you in class and you never make eye contact again..

11. Public naps

The food court? The couches in the student center? The lawn? They are all beds.

12. Living in the library

It becomes your second home when you go to the same spot, bring a blanket, snacks, and spend the night a couple times a week.

13. Having no money

Is a burrito worth it? What if I need these five dollars later?

14. Identity crisis

Meeting new people and trying new things make you question everything.

College can be a messy transition and maybe it is not for everybody, but man is it an experience. To graduating seniors, good luck. To my fellow college student peers, we got this.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
