While being Italian, comes some joys and struggles that define our heritage. I'm happy to have grown up in a home where the food tastes phenomenal, the wine is homemade, and family is everything. Being Italian is like sitting at the cool kid's table in the cafeteria — everyone wants to join.

1. It takes about 30 minutes to say goodbye to each family member.

2. You're always talking with your hands.

3. There are at least 3 or more people with the same name in your family.

... So you each have different nicknames.

4. You have bread with every meal possible.

5. Sundays are for family gatherings.

6. Knowing that real coffee is always made on the stovetop.

7. We value the versatility of Pastina.

It's the perfect solution when you are feeling under the weather.

8. You cannot enter another Italian's home at Christmas time without bringing one of these.

9. When people say Olive Garden is good Italian food.

10. Nutella was a staple in your life before it became popular everywhere.

11. You flinch when you see a wooden spoon.

12. You always see your papa or nonno peeling their fruit.

13. When someone asks why you talk so loud

14. But lastly, you love being part of your crazy loud Italian family!

Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
