The Plunge

Since summer is coming to an end, it's time for those final weekends away, which means one thing: ROAD TRIP!

This year my road trip is a little different. I'm driving 20 hours down to the happiest place on Earth! This is an extremely long time in a car without stopping, but here are some things to bring to make it just a bit easier!

1. Music

No road trip is complete without the perfect playlist! Find that old iPod you stopped using and load it up! Take some time before you go and download new songs and create different playlists for everyone in your car! When the music is good, those hours will fly by!

2. Map It Out

Having a GPS is a gift to your driver, but they can also cut out if you're driving through the countryside or a tunnel. Go a little old school and print out some directions to keep the ride going smoothly.

3. Cash

You should always carry cash with you, but everyone knows you're going to want to stop for food. Plus, tolls can be a real pain! Keep some small cash aside for those pesky things.

4. Car Chargers

Wires on wires on wires! You know your phone will die at least once on the trip.

5. Comfort

Neck pillows and blankets will be your best friend when you're in the passenger seat. Especially when your friend is blasting that AC.

6. Dramamine

Or any motion sickness medicine, really

7. Food

Food is key. Cut down that drive by not stopping for food. Bring anything you want. Snacks, sandwiches, gum, candy; pack it all in!

8. Books

Reading and coloring! That back seat can get really boring if you don't bring something to occupy your mind. Audio books are also really great!

9. Drinks

Pack a small cooler with some essential drinks. Add some energy drinks in there for when you need a little help.

10. Kits

First aid kits and emergency car kits are a must!

11. Camera

Sure, your phone is great, but sometimes you need something else.

12. Car Ride Games

Do your research or make some up! Time will definitely move faster when you're shouting out answers.

13. Waze

Download the Waze app. It'll tell you where there's traffic and how long it's been backed up.

14. Spray

Long car rides + closed space = scary (and maybe even smelly)!

Just keep calm and have fun with your friends!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
