Yes, it's that time of year again- Thanksgiving is coming! Every holiday is special in its own way but with every holiday comes classic conversations and occurrences with your family. No matter the year, there are things that never cease to change. Here are some (of the many) things that are bound to happen at Thanksgiving this year:
1. Someone will comment on how nice the turkey looks.
Even though it literally looks the same every single year. If it was a chicken you probably wouldn't even notice.
2. Someone will tell you how big you've gotten... and after the age of 13 that's no longer a compliment but you act like you're flattered anyway.
No, I have not gotten taller. Probably just fat. Thanks.
3. You might have to tell the story about how things ended between you and your ex because your family is always looking for another wedding to go to and you've let them down.
I will not be getting married anytime soon. Sorry for crushing your dreams.
4. *Cue conversation about the election*
Lol please stfu.
5. Your mom will ask you to help with the cooking, cleaning, setting the table, etc etc etc and then get mad when you don't want to help.
"I've been slaving over the stove all day and you can't even wash some forks?!"
6. You'll probably question that your family is full of borderline alcoholics.
*Eight empty bottles of wine between your aunt and your mom alone*
7. Someone will be caught falling asleep at the table.
If it's someone over the age of 75 then you get to play "Dead or Asleep?"
8. Someone will explode in the bathroom.
That little candle burning in there is nice but can't work miracles.
9. "How's school/work?"
"Really great, thanks for asking!!!!!!!"
10. There might be the occasional bickering.
Yes, please bring up that thing that happened 15 years ago, we should definitely talk about that again.
11. Grandma starts getting tipsy.
By accident? I think not.
12. Emotions run wild when the food finally comes out.
You've been waiting for this moment your whole life (aka the past 3 hours)
13. There's the big decision of who is going to say Grace before the meal.
But it will probably end up being your dad.
14. "What are you thankful for?"
I'm thankful for stretchy pants because without them I would not fit into my clothes tomorrow. (Shout out to the apple pie I'm about to shove into my face.)
15. By the end of the night everyone is drunk, gassy, and sick of each other so you all say goodbye in a loving manner and look forward to Christmas coming right around the corner when you get to see each other again.
Love you, too!
