Hoosier Bloggers

Bloomington, Indiana. Home to the Indiana University. There are so many unique qualities and trademarks make up a Hoosier. Whether an undergraduate, graduate, or even an alum, check out this list and see how many you can relate to!

1. Blowing the rest of your meal points at the end of the semester on Hoosier Den

We've all been there. It's the end of the semester and you have built-up meal points. We all blew them on the Wright food court or midnight snacks at the Hoosier Den.

2. Pizza X/Mother Bears

Really. I mean what else can account for the Freshmen 15 besides some of the nation's best pizzarias? And who can forget being able to hear the speakers from the Pizza X van a mile away?!

3. You lived your nights on Kirkwood

Kirkwood is arguably the hottest bar scene in Bloomington. Between Kilroy's, Dunkirk's, and Nick's, the nights never held a dull moment for us.

4. You shook the Herman Statue's hand

All through the year, Ole' Herman sits out on his bench, giving good luck to all who shake his hand before their exams.

5. You remember "The Shot"

December 10, 2011. A moment that made everyone remember where they were when that happened. Christian Watford pulled up from the behind the arc and drained a three to beat Kentucky! This was the most exciting moment in basketball history.

6. Indiana Weather

Indiana weather. Rain one day, snow the next, followed again by sunshine. Awesome.

7. The Ballantine stairs caused you to slip into depression.

Oh, you have a course on the top floor of Ballantine? Have a great semester!

8. Hoosiers never lost a tailgate.

Through all of the ups and downs, the sunshine and dreary weather, Hoosiers take pride in their tailgates and will never lose one.

9. Your memory of Little 500 is spotty.

Little 500. Do any of us really remember what happened that week? Good luck!

10. You take pride in Bobby Knight's actions.

The famous chair throw! A trademark of Indiana Basketball. The history of this program is overwhelming.

11. Jumping in the Quarries.

Doing cliff dives off the edge of the Quarrys is one of the more memorable things you can do as a Hoosier. Of course, until a native made his way down to show off.

12. You know the song "This is Indiana"

This is Indiana. Yeah, we do it big. Bossin' on the Big Ten, You know what it is. This is I-U-U-U!

13. You hate Purdue

You absolutely, loathe, hate, despise, detest, and abhor that other school. Nothing else needs to be said.

14. You rode the bus to class

You took the bus across campus just to get to class on time. No doubt that this made you feel claustrophobic. That commute from McNutt to Swain hall was miserable.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
