Funny Junk

We all have spent countless hours on our couches watching trash television. I'm sure many of us have fond memories of hours wasted in front of the television watching shows that are no longer available for our viewing pleasure! The majority of such television shows have originated from the ever popular Music Television station (MTV).

Prepare yourself for some feels as I guide you down memory lane with the ever so awkward mom dates, Orange County drama, Milonakis mayhem, and yo momma jokes. I strongly believe that MTV should reconsider bringing back some (notice that I emphasize some) of these oldies, but goodies to make our television marathons the most enjoyable! Some of these television programs are also better as fond memories in the early 00s where they belong.

1. "Date My Mom"

This one should come back for pure entertainment because some of those moms were crazier than their daughters!

2. "Room Raiders"

Because of this show, I used to get nervous if I left my room a total mess! Does anyone remember the episode where Zac Efron guest starred? Spoiler alert: he hates girls that do not clean out their hairbrushes! He even kept a pair of panties, and he didn't even pick the poor girl!

3. "Next"

I always felt bad for the ones that got instantly next-ed! Even Raj!

4. "Laguna Beach"

I lived for the LC and Kristin drama!

5. "Yo Momma"

Fez, I mean Wilmer Valderrama hosted a show dedicated to all kinds of shade throwing to individuals' innocent mommas. "Yo Momma so fat, she can hear the bacon frying in Canada!"

6. "Pimp My Ride"

We all have dreamed about Xzibit pimping our future rides!

7. "The Hills"

Is this the week Audrina finally sends Justin Bobby packing? And when will Heidi ever come to her senses about Spencer?

8. "Parental Control"

Some of those parents just needed to slap the person their child was dating! Or at least change the locks!

9. "Life of Ryan"

I mean... Who didn't have a crush on Ryan Sheckler back in the day?

10. "The Buried Life"

This show should have never been canceled! These guys are still out there doing amazing things, and helping others! Check them out online when you have a chance! My favorite episode was when they went to the nudist community!

11. "Silent Library"

The celebrity episodes were my favorite!

12. "The Andy Milonakis Show"

I remember discussing the latest episode of Andy Milonakis every week in junior high! He needs to come back.

13. "Cribs"

I wanna see what Lady Gaga keeps in her fridge.

14. "TRL"

Am I the only one who didn't know what "TRL" stood for until recently? It stands for "Total Request Live," for those of you who still didn't know. There was also an episode where Britney Spears guest-hosted the show pre-2007 breakdown.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
