Before we left the only home we ever knew and prepared to depart our hometowns for college, we heard story after story from our elders about how great college was and how it was going to be "The best four years of your life." We get to college and realize, "Yeah this is pretty great. I can do whatever I want whenever I want." As we get further into the semester and further into our four years of college, reality sets in and we realize, "College is difficult." It's true, college isn't all sunshine and rainbows; here are some of the most difficult aspects of college:
1. The homework load never ends
2. You're incredibly broke
3. You cry every time you receive your tuition bill
4. If your school has a large campus, you get lost, A LOT
5. If you go to a large school, your class could be a walk that takes 10-30 minutes
6. You take way too many L's on a Friday night
7. You eat your weight in carbs from late night pizza runs
8. Campus food gets old really quick and you miss a home-cooked meal
9. Just when you graduate college and stop paying a tuition bill every semester, you receive your first student loan bill six months later; get ready to be broke the rest of your life
10. Everyone asks you what you plan on doing with the rest of your life and they ask you what you're studying and they ask you where you see yourself in 10 years; you're 18-22 years old, how the heck are you supposed to know where your life will take you???
11. You're tired ALL the time
12. You have more mental breakdowns than you'd care to admit
13. You can never decide what you want to study or what you want your future career to be
14. You have no idea what to do with your life
College isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It's difficult from time to time and sometimes you just want to drop out and move back home, but trust me, IT'S WORTH IT. You'll graduate four (five for some of us) years later and look back on all the incredible times you had and memories you made. College is incredibly difficult but you'll be thankful for it later.
