Cats represent a lot about The Good Life: they eat when they like, they lounge around in the sun all day, they nap everywhere. They are also just about the cutest beings to walk the earth, as well as being descended from some of the planet's most deadly predators.

1. Cat belly fur.

It's a sign of trust when a cat exposes its stomach -- and on the rare occasion you are allowed to pet the soft, mystical world that is a cat's belly fur, you may have a religious experience. Until the cat decides you're done and scratches your hand.

2. Cat yawns.

It looks like they're roaring, and what's cuter than snapping a picture of your mild-mannered tabby mid-roar?

3. Purring.

Not only is purring a cat's way of self-soothing, it's also been proven to help humans by lowering stress and blood pressure.

4. They're very independent.

Even if that means they like to ignore you, it also means they don't need to be walked every couple hours and are suited pretty well to live basically anywhere.

5. Slow blinks.

It's cat for "I love you." Or really, "I trust you enough to let my guard down just a little bit," which is basically the same thing.

6. They're actually quite affectionate.

Despite the bad rap cats get for not caring about anyone else, they do become a true member of the family given time, love, and the right circumstances.

7. They're the cutest beings to ever grace Earth with their presence.

'Nuff said.

8. They're fun to play with.

Even if it's just in short bursts, all cats are playful (deep, deep down) and will have a good time with catnip mice or laser pointers or sitting in boxes.

9. Most cats are pretty smart.

Definitely not all. But it's fun to help them work out the world around them.

10. Cat greets.

Many cats come greet their owners, just like dogs do. Cats are more quiet about it. They jump down from wherever they are, give you a meow, and rub up against your leg.

11. They miss you.

If you're gone for longer than they expect -- especially if it's a lot longer than they expect -- they'll come sit on your lap and meow-yell at you while also cuddling next to you. It's cat for "Hey, stop leaving! But I still love you."

12. Kittens!

Yep. That'll do it.

13. They demand to be #1.

Doesn't matter if you're reading, working, or sending emails. If your cat wants some love, she's right on top of you, pushing whatever it is you're doing out of the way. Cat cuddle time.

14. There's so many cats who still need homes.

Cats are terrific companions. Opening up your home to a cat is opening up your life to immense joy. Remember to adopt, not shop.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
