People are always looking at those who are covered in tattoos with disgust or fear, but in reality, most of those people are simple artists who have decided to use their body as their canvas. There is not much difference between an artist who paints on paper to an artist who needles color onto a body. Tattoos not only show who the person may be from the outside, but they also show a number of traits about that person. I currently have one tattoo, a map of the world in watercolor with a compass accompanying Russia and Asia. I love what my tattoo tells others about what I like and sometimes it's a conversation starter. Tattoos are a unique form of expression that some don't like, though it should not matter what people think, but how you feel covering your body in multiple masterpieces of your own being.
Tattoos have a number of reasons why they're a great form of expression, but here's 14 of them:
1. Trustworthy
People who have tattoos are typically pretty trustworthy, because tattoos are permanent. You have to be able to trust the person needling color into your skin before getting the tattoo, so these people tend to want someone who is just as trusting as they are.
2. Committed
Since tattoos are permanent, you have to be fully committed to this act. If you aren't you shouldn't be getting a tattoo. These people can commit to whatever they choose to do and this reflects who they are as a person.
3. Body-Positive
Tattoos symbolize something to the wearer, they love their tattoos and enjoy showing them off. Most times tattoos are somewhere people can constantly see them and t gives the wearer a love for their bodies. It means they love the skin they're in and want everyone to know it or at least that they themselve want to know it.
4. In Remembrance
Some people get tattoos to have a lasting memory of someone or something, because it means so much to them. They also give the wearer a sense of keeping that someone or something alive. Remembrance tattoos always have a meaning that goes deep and can show the level of sensitivty of the wearer.
5. Creativity
Tattoo wearers and artists are typically very creative people. It takes an imaginative mind to create the pieces of art that decorate a person's body. The level of thought is immense and takes time.
6. Less Judgemental
People with tattoos tend to be less judgemental of others, because they are constantly judged for the artwork on their skin. Not every person with a tattoo is a criminal or unintelligent, so those with tattoos tend to see people from the inside and not their outside.
7. Conversation-Starters
Anyone who has a tattoo has heard at least once, "Where did you get that?" or "I love your tattoo!". It's because people want to know more about it and you. It gets people talking and since tattoos are visible they're easy to start off with, because you can't just ignore the fact that you have one that people can see.
8. Adventurous
People with tattoos tend to be risk-takers and love being wild in life. To get a tattoo you have to be willing to take a risk and roll with it no matter the outcome. A tattoo can go a number of ways, so understanding that risk and being able to take it makes you quite adventurous.
9. Confident
Most people with tattoos are pretty confident in their bodies and mind. I mean you have to reveal whatever part of your body to your tattoo artist in order to get it done, that takes some confidence. You also like to show it off most of the time, who doesn't want to tell everyone they know they just needled a picture into your skin.
10. Open-Minded
Someone who has a tattoo can be really open-minded. When someone else wants to explain something that seems out of the ballpark, you can take it on with neutral responses. Not many people get tattoos, so not everyone will understand you from their opposite view, but you can see other people in a different way, because you understand how it feels to be ostracized.
11. Tough
It takes a person who is pretty tough, physically and mentally, to get a tattoo. The pain is actually difficult to take on, especially for your first one. Though, it takes someone mentally hardcore to get a tattoo, because some people will take one look at you and think, "They probably do drugs, can't get a job, or lack intelligence." You typically don't care what other people think, because to you that tattoo means something and only you know what that is upon first glance.
12. Motivated
It takes a ton of motivation to get a tattoo. You're nervous and anxious waiting to see how it turns out, but in the end you had the guts to get it done. It's one of those extremely difficult desicions that ma take months to figure out, but you did it and got yourself to the shop.
13. Mysterious
A tattoo is a picture, therefore, a picture can mean a million things. Someone can look at your tattoo for days and may never understand what it means until you tell them. That's the fun in it, being able to scramble somebody's mind so much that they'll be begging you to tell them what it means and why.
14. Bold
Tattoos stick out like a sore thumb in a crowd. They're barely seen as positive and so people always see them before you. It's what makes you stand out and be unique, every tattoo means something different to everyone, so go you for being a little bold.
You're different and that's the best thing, keep your head held high and show off that beautiful piece of artwork!
