14 Reasons Sisters Are A Blessing In Disguise

When you have sisters by your side, there is nothing you can't get through or work out.

My youngest sister turns 14 this weekend (omg I'm old) so I thought I would write an article about why sisters are a blessing even though sometimes it doesn't seem like they are. My sisters and I are really close, but sometimes they drive me crazy. In the end, they're my best friends and I wouldn't have it any other why. Here's some reasons why:

1. They tell you the truth, no matter what.

Even when it's the last thing you want to hear, your sister will tell you how it is, no questions asked.

2. They're always up for an adventure.

When all your friends are away or just busy, you always have your sisters ready for an adventure. We've done so many things together and even when they're not supposed to be fun, we make them enjoyable.

3. They stick with you at awkward family parties.

When I have to go to a family party without them, I don't know what to do with myself. We always stick together at these types of things. When we don't know what to do, we just laugh at each other and people think we're involved with what's going on around us.

4. Their closet is your closet.

I say this as I'm wearing my older sister's shirt and my youngest sister's scarf. They probably have something on that doesn't belong to them right now, too. We hate it sometimes but I would wear the same 5 shirts all the time if we didn't share.

5. They've stuck with you through the rough times.

Family fights, friend problems, and the stresses of life sometimes just get to be too much. When you have sisters by your side, there is nothing you can't get through or work out. They make everything seem okay, even just got a little while.

6. Little sisters = learning responsibility.

Since I have two younger sisters, I always make sure I am doing the right thing so I set a good example for them. All my life I've tried to be the best person I can be, simply so they act the same way as they grow up. At times, I've also had to watch them or make sure they're doing what they're supposed to be doing. A lot of my responsibility now comes from having them in my life.

7. They've been with you at all stages of life.

They're pretty much the only people who have known you all your life. They know how you have changed through the years, how you've stayed the same, and how you want to be in the future.

8. They understand you more than anyone else ever will.

You have a connection with your sister(s) that is unlike any other. They know how you work and why you are the way you are. Sometimes they know you better than you know yourself.

9. They keep your secrets...sometimes.

Unless it's something that has to be shared, you know your secret is safe with your sister. They become your diary as you grow up and this is why they know you so well.

10. They're your support system.

My whole family is my support system, but my sisters are one of the biggest parts of this. They help me when I'm not feeling confident enough in something and they help me to push through the worst times.

11. They give the best fashion advice.

How else would I know if my outfit looks okay every day? I won't leave the house without asking one of them if it works, even if I have to text them. I'm no fashionista so they make it happen for me.

12. You have a forever best friend in them.

No matter how many people come in and out of my life, I know I will always have my sisters around. No argument could break us apart and no one can come between the four of us.

13. They give you a reason to be proud.

No, I'm not their parent, but I've been around their whole lives and have watched my little sisters grow up. Graduations, dance recitals, good report cards; everything they accomplish makes me proud to be their sister.

14. They give you a reason to smile/laugh.

Even on my worst days, I can always count on my sisters to make me laugh. Even if they don't know it, they'll send a text in our group chat (yes we have a group chat) and it will make all the bad things go away. They keep me going.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
