Moving away from home and moving in with a roommate was one of the most terrifying yet exhilarating experiences of my life. I heard so many horror stories before coming to college about roommates and how they never got along. Luckily that wasn’t the case for my roommate and me. To my roommate, these are a few reasons why I love you.
1. You’re always down to eat.
Weather it’s a night called for late night pizza or driving to Steak N Shake at 2 a.m. I can guarantee you’ll be sitting next to me. I mean, I wouldn’t want to share a milkshake with anyone else anyways.
2. Coming to my rescue when I lock myself out.
If there’s one thing I’m really good at, it’s locking myself out of the room. So, thank you for always coming to save me and always asking me if I have my keys before we leave the room.
3. Helping me study.
When I’m stressing out on a test I can always count on you to help me through it. Especially on finals week when we were running on no sleep, and going to Starbucks when they opened so we could stay awake during our finals.
4. Being my personal alarm clock.
There have been multiple times that we have slept through our alarms. Luckily, we have each other to ensure that we get up and get to class on time. Even if that means I have to physically drag you out of your bed (which has happened on multiple occasions).
5. Binge watching Netflix with me.
As if we aren’t anti-social enough, I have to thank you for always being down to watch Netflix. Who wants to go to the crowded dining hall when we can sit in bed, watch a movie, and eat by ourselves?
6. Helping me with projects/papers.
Thank you for always being there to help me. Between the times that you edit my papers to when I ask you to look at one of my projects, you never complain. I cannot thank you enough for everything you do for me.
7. Letting me rummage through your closet.
I never had sisters growing up, so moving in with you was really cool because now I always have another closet of clothes to pick from! I’m always sending you pictures asking if I can wear one of your dresses or stealing a pair of shoes because they look better with my outfit.
8. Letting me eat your food.
We both have a miniature grocery store in our room, but your barbecue chips always sound good. Thank you for always letting me have whatever I want and making a thousand-and-one Walmart trips with me. Lets also not forget finding random recipes online to try to make, who ever thought we could live off of seven meal swipes a week?
9. Being my shoulder to lean on.
Life and college has its fair share of ups and downs, but through it all you’ve been outrageously supportive. From reprimanding me when I needed a wake-up call to reality to just simply asking if I’m okay on a bad day; it makes it easier knowing I have you to back me up.
10. Not complaining when I need to rant.
I am very prone to speaking my mind. Thank you for always listening to me (even about the dumbest things) and being honest about your opinions.
11. Coming with me to functions.
I know, you probably didn’t think you’d be rooming with a “sorority girl.” But I want to thank you anyways for letting me drag you from fraternity to fraternity because I don’t want to go alone. Also I have to thank you for making countless runs with me to the chapter house, even though you’d rather be in bed. I drag you everywhere with me, you’re an automatic plus one; always.
12. Going on adventures with me.
Our adventures are always fun. Whether it’s driving around for hours just to listen to the radio, or hiking up some random trail, it’s never a dull moment with you. I look forward to our “boring” weekends because I know they’ll be anything but that.
13. Taking pictures with me.
I’m so happy I got to room with someone who shared my love for taking pictures. We may have to retake it about ten times to get it just right, but it’s totally worth it. I love getting to document our short four years in college together, and not to mention the countless Snapchats I get to take of you.
14. Being my best friend.
Lastly, I want to thank you for becoming my best friend. I didn’t know what coming to a huge college would be like, but I’m so lucky to have you by my side now and for the next few years, and beyond. I love you!
