Valentines Day manages to bring out the pessimist in quite a few people. As Christians, we have a love and a hope that is bigger than St. Valentine and heart-shaped chocolates. We have a perfect, everlasting, passionate love from the maker of the heavens and designer of our hearts. Jesus Christ is perfect love and His example is the one that all other forms of love stem from.
14. Mark 12:28-34
“…Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these…’”
13. John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
12. Romans 12:9-12
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality."
11. Romans 13:10
"Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law."
10. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
9. 1 Corinthians 13:13
"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
8. 1 Peter 4:8
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins."
7. 1 John 4:18
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
6. 1 John 4:10-12
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."
5. Colossians 3:14
"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
4. Romans 8:37-39
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
3. Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
2. 1 John 3:1
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him."
1. This quotation:
“But the great thing to remember is, though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not. It is not wearied by our sins or our indifference; and, therefore, it is quite relentless in its determination that we shall be cured of those sins, at whatever cost to us, at whatever cost to Him.” -C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)Be encouraged and content in His love this Valentines Day.
