14 Questions Every Vermonter Is Tired Of Being Asked
Time.com

After living in Vermont my whole life, I have been asked some pretty crazy questions revolving around my home state. At this point in my life, I've heard them all, so I've listed the top 14 questions myself along with my other fellow Vermonters are just tired of being asked:

1. Do you live in Canada?

“Oh you live in Vermont…isn’t that in Canada?” We share a border, and that's about it.

2. Do you have a pet cow?

If you heard there’s more cows than people in the state of VT, then you need to check your facts. Don’t get me wrong though, we need a lot or else we couldn't make the best cheese in the world.

3. Do you ski?

Most of the population does, yes, but there’s some of us that have never skied in their life (*cough cough*).

4. Why do you call it a Creemee?

Please don’t ask us this…we just do, ok?

5. Why is it called the Green Mountain state?

Thanks to our man, Samuel De Champlain, for giving Vermont the nickname "Green Mountain State".

6. Do you believe Champ is real?

Duh... we even have pictures to prove it

7. Why did you bring your own maple syrup?

Why not? I’m not going to be caught dead putting that fake stuff on my pancakes.

8. What’s your favorite kind of ice cream?

Our answer will always and forever be Ben & Jerry’s.

9. Does everyone live on a farm?

For your information only 21% of Vermont is farmland...so no, we don't all live on a farm or live next to one - only a few of us do.

10. Are you voting for Bernie Sanders?

We certainly love our senator from Vermont, and are very proud of how far he has come in his campaign. Win or lose, Vermont will always #FeelTheBern.

11. Is your favorite season winter?

I have to admit, it is beautiful here in the winter with the snow, but we can only handle so much and can't wait for it to be gone in the springtime.

12. What’s a leaf peeper?

If you are asking me this question, you probably are one yourself. We know it's beautiful here in the fall; now move out of the way! If you are still confused, here’s the definition:

leaf peeper

noun US informal

noun: leaf peeper; plural noun: leaf peepers

a person who visits particular areas, especially in New England, to view the autumn foliage.

13. What’s 802?

For the millionth time, Vermont is special because we only need one area code for the whole state: 802.

14. Where’s the Target?

It’s a sore subject for most of us, but for the millionth time… Vermont doesn’t have a Target!

I hope you have learned a lot about Vermont and of the wonderful people that live here. Don't ever be shy to come up and talk to us, we are awesome individual, just whatever you do...don't EVER ask us these questions listed above. We will loose all respect for you.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.
