Midterms are tough. Midterms are very tough and we could all use a break now and then. It's not uncommon for these breaks to include (hours of) internet searching for pictures of cute, care-free animals who do not have to worry about these terrible exams that make us question our entire self worth.
It is actually proven that animals have the ability to comfort us in times of need. It has been studied and suggested that interacting with a pet can lower blood pressure, slow your heart rate, make breathing more regular and decrease tension in your muscles. These are all signs of decreased stress levels, which we all need around midterms! These effects have also been noticed to take place much faster than any drug that provides the same benefits. If you ever needed a reason to get a pet...
Our doggy pals are there for us through all of our troubles. They're even able to accurately mirror how we feel throughout the weeks leading up to spring break AKA the best week of the semester.
Our dogs are the greatest gift and can brighten up any bad day that comes our way. Want to see a bunch of cute pups? Keep reading!
1. Pups like this lil guy are all ready for test day in their fancy ties.
2. While others prefer comfy & cozy (and possibly looking like they're in PJs on exam day).
3. All eyes are on you from this encouraging pup!
4. And this guy is nothing but supportive!
5. Sometimes our furry friends can sense our dread to study.
6. And they're perfectly OK with procrastinating with us.
7. But they don't like to accept when it's time for us to get back to work.
8. Unless they're super professional and goal-oriented like this pup.
9. Then they're ready to fall into post-exam hibernation with us at any time.
10. Or just hang out on the couch and binge watch Netflix for hours.
11. They are more than excited to hang on the beach and roll in the sand.
12. Or party it up college spring break style.
13. Even if you party too hard and end up in some trouble...
14. Two is always better than one.
15. Sometimes cats are welcome too!
16. They're always ready to snap the bow back on and come back for the rest of the semester fully recharged.
But overall, our furry friends are hands-down the best motivation to keep us pushing through!
If you are looking to adopt a new friend, check out your local animal shelters! There are so many dogs (and cats) in need of a loving home and who would be more than willing to be your best friend. Not only will you get all of the stress-reducing benefits, but you'll feel like a hero rescuing an animal in need!*
*However be aware that owning a pet is a large responsibility and should only be done if you have sufficient time and resources to accurately care for an animal.
