Until I reached my college career I didn't realize that there were so many things about myself that I was proud of. Most people point out the bad things about themselves, but they don't realize that they should be focusing on the things about themselves that make them proud.

I am proud to be:

1. The oldest sibling

I am proud to be the oldest sibling because playing that role has a big responsibility. My siblings look up to me, therefore I have pushed myself my whole life to be the best role model for them.

2. A voice for the queer community

I am proud to be a voice for the queer community because most queer folk are afraid to be themselves, but I am willing to step up and voice my opinions and take stands because I have become confident in who I am as a person.

3. An LHU student

I am proud to be a student at Lock Haven University because they have helped me become the person that I am and there isn't another university that I would rather represent.

4. A writer

I am proud to be a writer because through my words I have the ability to change someone's perspective on a given topic and ultimately change the world.

5. A YouTuber

I am proud to be have a YouTube channel because I get to use my creativity to discuss different topics with a variety of people from all different backgrounds. It is a place where I get to be my complete self.

6. A HOBY volunteer

I am proud to be a volunteer for HOBY because HOBY changed my life and now I get to help change lives by being a facilitator.

7. Kelcie's partner

I am proud to be Kelcie's partner because she brings out the best in me; when I am in her presence I am the best version of myself. I am proud of the love that we both show one another.

8. A track coach

I am proud to be a track coach because I get to help better athletes in a sport that really developed me as a person. Being able to teach students something that I am so passionate about is even better.

9. A small town girl

I am proud to come from a small town because I learned the importance of a community. I love being able to connect with people and that skill was one I learned by living in a small town.

10. A leader

I am proud to be a leader because everyday I have the opportunity to lead someone on the right path and it makes me feel like I am actually making a difference.

11. A sports administration major

I am proud to be a sports administration major because sports connect people everyday and they are a big part of our society. By working in the sports field I hope to keep the integrity of sports in tact.

12. Intelligent

I am proud to be intelligent because being intelligent has made learning very fun for me. I love learning new things and thinking outside the box.

13. Open-minded

I am proud to be open-minded because I think our society could benefit from more open-minded people. I have my own beliefs and will fight for what I believe in everyday, but I also understand that others have different beliefs and I am willing to hear them out and see different perspectives.

14. Funny

I am proud to be funny because sometimes life is way too serious. There is nothing better than laughing until you cry and I love making people laugh.

Although there are many other things about myself that I am proud of, I am going to leave you with fourteen things. I am proud of all of these things, but at the end of the day I am proud to be myself. I challenge you to write down a list of things that you are proud of and remember that list as you go through life. It is OK to realize that you might be bad at some things, but remember that there are always things about yourself that you should be proud of. Most importantly, be proud of who you are and where you are going!

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
