Satisfaction is difficult to come by in every facet of life. When it does happen, we like to bask in our glory for a little bit before we move on with our lives. One of the many ways to gain satisfaction is through video games, so here is a list of some of the most satisfying moments in gaming.

1. When you finally beat the boss you've battled five times.

It's so very frustrating when we come across a seemingly impossible boss, but when we beat it, a glorious feeling of accomplishment washes over us.

2. When you make that impossible jump.

"It's not possible to jump over the flag poles in 'Super Mario,'" they told us. Did we listen? No, we accomplished the impossible jump, and then ran forever or, at least, until time ran out.

3. When you fall from too high, but survive anyway.

This moment begins with a heart attack. On the side of a mountain in "Skyrim" and you accidentally take a fall. You stop breathing before the land, and then relief washes over you as your character stands back up.

4. When you successfully romance your favorite companion.

While it's not always a challenge, romancing my favorite companion in a game like "Dragon Age" makes me feel happy that my character is in love.

5. When you solve that terrible puzzle.

Some dungeons have puzzles that take forever to solve. You'll spend hours staring at the screen, not moving, trying to figure out how to do the puzzle. Once you do solve it, it can be an immensely satisfying moment.

6. When you put a line piece in the good spot.

Playing "Tetris" can be frustrating when you go turn after turn without a line piece, but once you do get a line piece, and put it in the exact right spot to make the lines disappear; you'll want to cry sweet tears of joy.

7. When you get a head shot.

This is more for the first person shooter fans. In certain games, a head shot is an instakill, or it does extra critical damage. When you do get one, you'll let out a hearty victory screech.

8. When you make a cool combo.

Fighting games like "Street Fighter" are made with the idea that certain buttons pressed in a certain order will make the character perform cool moves. When you discover one, it can be an awe-inspiring moment of satisfaction.

9. When you beat your opponent with a sliver of health.

That impossible boss I mentioned before? Well, sometimes when you beat it, you'll walk away with a very tiny amount in your health bar. Before that final blow is another moment when your heart stops. When it falls, you'll tell all of your friends how lucky you were.

10. When you unlock the secret level.

"Doom," the classic computer game was popular for this. You would battle your way through hell beasts and find the secret levels, then battle your way through more hell beasts. It's always cool to discover secrets.

11. When the enemy finally drops the item you've spent three days grinding for.

I have watched my boyfriend grind for hours to find a couple of items for weapon upgrades in "Dark Souls 2." I also did it all the time in "World of Warcraft." It is very satisfying when you finally find that item.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
