Sparkle Quotes

No matter where you live, your age, or life situation, we all struggle and face problems within life. Sometimes you may need extra reminders to get you through the day. These are helpful tips to live by and remember each day you wake up and start the day.

1. Somebody loves you. Whether it’s your parents, lover, or best friend. There’s at least one, but probably many individuals who love you and are rooting for you.

2. It’s okay to take naps, especially during hard, stressful, or tiring days. Don't let others discourage you for this.

3. Self love is so important. Before loving someone else, make sure to love yourself

4. Put your phone down, whether it’s for 10 minutes or an hour. Enjoy the people or things around you.

5. Every single person around you is going through or struggling with something. Be kind and thoughtful of others feelings.

6. It’s okay to ask for advice or guidance when you need it. The people who surround you and love you are your support system. You don’t need to go through obstacles alone.

7. Don’t give up when things get hard. Maybe it’s a sport or a class, but whatever it may be, try your best to complete it. You'll be proud of yourself at the end of it.

8. Don’t be so afraid to do things on your own. Having friends to be surrounded by is nice, but be independent. If you need to study go to the library alone or if a good movie comes out and no one else wants to see it, go watch it by yourself. Being independent is the first step to truly growing up,

9. Don't lie. Be honest with yourself and others.

10. Life is full of things to do, so stop saying you’re bored. Get a job, shop at the mall until your feet hurt, go on road trips, or try new restaurants and cafes in the city you live in. The list of things you can do go on and on. Make the best of life.

11. Have a routine for your busy days. Take your vitamins and drink your coffee and get the day started.

12. If you’re not happy about your current situation with life or maybe your appearance, remember that you have the power to change anything about yourself within a matter of seconds. Get a new hairstyle, introduce yourself to new people and make friends, or be adventurous and try something different.

13. Most importantly, remember that just because you may be having a hard/bad day, doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad life.

Whatever it may be that gets you through each day and makes you feel better, stick to it. Have a positive and open mindset.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
