Before, when I said I was a fan of poetry, I was often referring to older poetry--everything from Plath to Frost. It's not that I now dislike those poems, but it wasn't until I found some of the poems of Rupi Kaur that I really found poetry that seems to connect directly to me and encompass my life.
Rupi Kaur is a 24-year-old Canadian poet who's book "Milk and Honey" was published last year. The book is divided into four parts, and discusses everything from her childhood to love to breaking-up and healing. Her poems sometimes include images which add to their power. I could talk about her poetry for hours; but I'll let her poems speak for themselves. Here are 13 of them that speak to the soul:
