The walk from our residential house in the lovely Barrio Santa Rosa to the Central Park of Masaya gives me plenty of time to think in the morning. Here are some of the thoughts typically bouncing around my head as I walk the streets of the city.
1. Wow. It's really hot today.
2. Seriously. It. Is. Hot.
3. It's raining; maybe for 5 minutes I can cool off.
4. It's raining today. How can I still be this hot?
5. Wait. Has it rained today? No? Strange... I wonder when it's going to rain...
6. I had no idea I could physically sweat this much.
7. Literally, I should just buy a canoe and row to class in the river of sweat that is trickling down my body.
8. How are people wearing jeans? JEANS?!
9. I don't even have as much hair as that girl does and I can't stand leaving my hair down for five minutes. What sort of sorcery is this?
10. I wonder if my "24 hour protection" antiperspirant knew that Masaya, Nicaragua was a place when they made that statement. I can't last 24 seconds without sweating.
11. SHADE OH MY GOSH SHADE. SO COOL. SO REFRESHING.
12. Thank you God for inventing clouds to block the sun.
13. What does it mean to "be cold"? I'm not sure I remember anymore...
While it slowly turns cold back home in the great state of Illinois, it's nothing but sunshine and rain here in Nicaragua. The joke is though, is that by the time I come home, the first frost will likely be on it's way. I'll just be moving from one extreme to the next. ¡Ay Caramba!
