1. He teaches you to be tough

Aside from that sensitivity you catch yourself feeling every so often, a best guy friend will always be there to give you that strand of tough exterior when you need it. No more whining and crying about that boy that said you were ugly, they want you to kick his butt and show him what he's missing.

2. Drama is kept to a minimum

Guys are super cool for the simple fact that their feelings don't control their entire life. For the most part, your friendship is drama free and even with the occasional disagreement, nothing gets too out of hand

3. Life is never so serious

I think if it was possible I'd worry the entire day about all of the stressful parts of life. In reality, having a best guy friend teaches you that serious times don't have to be so serious. Fun can always be worked into the schedule. You always have someone to be your funny self with.

4. You expect your guy friend to understand everything you deal with on a daily basis

A huge apology on this one because I, myself, don't even understand everything I deal with on a daily basis. You just can't. Girls are too much sometimes.

5. You ALWAYS have someone to vent to about mean girls

I mean, if we are going to be honest talking about your encounters with mean girls to a guy is so much funnier than dishing it out to a girl. They just have a way of saying things that put things into perspective, and make you laugh at the same time.

6. You gotta let him know when you think a guy is cute

His advice is really good, even if it isn't what you want to hear. Chances are, he can decode those weird text messages for you and help you navigate through that awkward "talking" stage that everyone hates. After all, he is a guy.

7. You sometimes drive him crazy, and enjoy it

On the off chance that you decide today is the day to be annoying, he's your number one target. His reactions are priceless and you can't help but laugh.

8. He's seen your ugly cry and still talks to you

Now that's a good friend.

9. He's always there to snap the ugliest pictures of you

Some of the ugliest moments of my life could leave me friendless if he decided to share those off guard pictures. Man, I do not have many good angles.

10. If a problem is big or small, he's there

No matter the issue, you always have a friend to see you make it out alive.

11. You agree on a lot of the same things

Political issues, tv shows, you name it, he's with ya.

12. He's always equipped with the best advice, even when you least expect it

13. You definitely couldn't imagine life without him

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
