It's no secret that Farmville is a tiny town with not a ton to do. We don't have malls or extravagant activities within arms reach. As a student who's spending her fourth semester in the town she's fallen in love with, here is my list of things to do when you're feeling bored or when you just want to explore a little more:

1. High Bridge Trail.

It's an easy walk with beautiful views. Grab a friend and spend the afternoon walking down the trail. Once you reach the bridge it's an incredible incredible view.

2. Wednesday's at Charley's - $10 all you can eat pasta bar and Italian buffet.

Hands down the highlight of my week when I have the time to indulge at Charley's. The food is amazing, the staff is kind, and you can't beat the price.

3. Bowling on Thursday @ Main Street Lanes - Girl's Bowl Free.

This one is more for the girls, but you can't beat the price of this date night. Not only will girls get in for free, but the food served there is actually very good and reasonably priced.

4. Uptown for coffee.

Whether I'm with friends or just going to do homework, I find myself spending way too much time at this little coffee shop on Main Street. The staff is wonderful, the food and drinks are great, and they frequently have entertainment at night.

5. Pairets Inc.

While the bookstore is the obvious place to go for your Longwood apparel, Pairets is another wonderful option. The prices are significantly lower and you're able to customize your pieces!

6. Rent bikes from The Outdoor Adventure Store.

Right before you reach the entrance to High Bridge, you'll find this store where you can rent numerous equipment. Something on my list is to rent a bike for the trail!

7. Twin Lakes.

This will take you about a half hour to drive, but it's a great location to go and hang out with your friends! There's a lake to sit on, there are walking trails, and even the food is good.

8. Thursday's and Sunday's @ Macado's - 39 cent boneless wings.

Obviously, BWW is where we usually think of when it comes to wings, but Macados's offers an awesome special Thursdays and Sundays.

9. Campus events.

There are many organizations that throw on events at no cost for students, such as Lancer Productions and Campus Rec. Keep your eye out for the weekly emails to see everything the campus has to offer. Again, it's free for students, so you can't beat it.

10. Rent a projector (from the library) and transform your room into an at-home movie theater.

This is easy enough to do, doesn't cost you anything, and will provide endless entertainment. All you need is to grab some snacks and invite some friends over and you'll have a great night ahead.

11. Explore Downtown and the local shops.

I love getting to do this! Seeing some of the culture our tiny town has to offer is such a cool thing. There are also some great photo opportunities

12. Pinterest night with friends.

All you need to do is browse the internet and pick up some supplies at Walmart and you're good to go. If you're feeling fancy, pick up some snacks and goodies to go along with it and there's your night.

13. Family dinner.

This may be my favorite thing to do with friends. I love getting together with them and cooking a meal to enjoy together. Some of our favorites are a spaghetti dinner, tacos, or chicken parmesan. We also love to end the night with any kind of baked good and games.

Hopefully, these ideas will make your weekends a little more exciting. Our town may seem like it doesn't have much to offer, but look into the little things and you'll find it has much more than you know of.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
