13 Things That Happen When You're Close With Your Parents

Not many people can say they have a close relationship with their parents. But there are a lucky few of us who can proudly say we are best friends with ours. Having relationships with your parents that are close and loving is a blessing in disguise. Here are the 13 things that happen when you're close with your parents:

1. They're the first people you call.

Whenever something good or bad happens, they are the first people you call to tell all about it. If it's good, they will be over the moon with happiness, and if it's bad, they'll tell you everything's going to be fine.

2. They fix all your problems.

Your mom will gladly come over with all the supplies needed to nurse you back to health when you're sick and your dad will drop everything to come change your flat tire on the highway, no matter where you are.

3. You all have inside jokes.

You are constantly laughing at random songs on the radio and places you pass, because you all have a plethora of jokes only you understand.

4. You cheer for them just as much as they cheer for you.

They always say your parents are your biggest fans, but you are theirs too. When they get a promotion at work, you jump around cheering because you love it when their life is going well.

5. They know everything about you.

They know all the drama going on with your friends, your class schedule, and what you ate for lunch.

6. You regularly go on dates.

Hanging out with your parents is genuinely fun. You have probably spent many Friday nights with them going to dinner and a movie.

7. They still do things for you.

When you come home from school, they will have a home-cooked meal ready, all your favorite movies to watch, and your mom will do all your laundry for you.

8. You haven't been in a fight since your childhood.

You still argue every now and then, but the last time you all were in a real fight was when you were an angsty 13-year-old.

9. They are still your security blanket.

Just being with your parents provides so much comfort. Whenever you're in a sticky situation, you still just want your mom or dad.

10. You all are exactly alike.

Every day, you notice traits that you know you got from your parents. Every moment you're becoming more like them, and it's actually kind of creepy.

11. Your friends love them, and they love your friends.

Your friends enjoy hanging out with them just as much as you do, and your parents love when you bring them around.

12. Constantly texting.

You all text most of the day, every day, and you need to keep each other updated on everything. And when they don't answer, you have no shame texting them 16 times in a row until they do.

13. You're the luckiest person in the world.

Being close to your parents is a blessing. Not a lot of people can say they have an awesome relationship with their parents like you do. You know how lucky you are to have parents who are your best friends, and you wouldn't trade them for the world.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
