Contradictory? Somewhat. Functional? Absolutely.

To the naked eye, one might see me as a control freak with a Type A personality. I don't deny either of those things, but I do have a secret. A dark side. On the outside, I'm a composed, put together, eloquent person. On the inside (specifically, the inside of my bedroom), I'm an absolute mess. Here are some things you may be able to relate to if you too are a walking oxymoron.

1. By how you carry yourself, people assume every facet of your life is put together

2. Your room can stay dirty for weeks without you caring, but once you clean it, it makes you SO happy

3. Your room looks AMAZING for a few days, but it gets back to its messy state pretty quickly

4. You don't mind when your roommates have messy rooms

5. You have everything you need to do written down in your planner, but cleaning your room usually is not in there

6. All of your folders and notebooks are color-coded and labeled for each class, but they are strewn across your room

7. Although your room is very messy most of the time, you know precisely where you put certain things on the floor

8. You also know precisely which clothing items on the floor are dirty and which are clean

9. But when you do somehow forget where you put a certain item, you'd rather tear apart your room and make it messier to find it rather than clean

10. You create little spots in your room where you can safely exist without the clutter touching you

11. You would let dirty dishes sit in the sink until the end of time, but you get an odd satisfaction from arranging everything in the dishwasher

12. When you're in another person's space, you make sure to never leave a mess (and you actually enjoy cleaning up after yourself when it's not your own house)

13. You can't seem to relate to this popular meme because your life is not nearly as messy as your room

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
