Whether you were born and raised or just moved here, Cuyahoga Falls has a different impact on all of us. This big population city with a small-town feel is home to a variety of people who all share one thing in common- this incredibly unique city. It may not be a big name on the maps, but it will always be a big name to us.

1. Downtown consists of two streets, neither of which are able to be driven on.

Unless there's a Friday night concert going on, going downtown isn't a very lively event.

2. Nobody understands the purpose of the giant tower.

We've all heard the story about how the tower was supposed to be a revolving restaurant, but bankruptcy caused the construction to stop. Even though some still wonder why it is still up and unused, we all agree that its existence is crucial to the city.

3. We've known that "Cuyahoga" means crooked river since they day we started in the school system.

This must have been mandatory information that we needed in order to pass on to the next grade until we reached high school. But at least we learned our history.

4. We can proudly say that we live in a national park.

And better yet- it is absolutely beautiful. We are never lacking new places to explore.

5. We will always feel a slight hesitation when you see maroon and gold together.

The Falls/Stow rivalry was intense from the start. If you went to high school in Cuyahoga Falls, you will always remember

6. We don't have to travel for concerts.

Having Blossom Music Center practically in our backyards is one of the bestt parts of living in the Falls. And special props to any band that says "Cuyahoga Falls" rather than "Akron" or "Cleveland."

7. We're proud to be Black Tigers, even though we've never heard of one before.

According to our mascot, it's probably safe to assume they look like regular tigers.

8. We know where the best Mexican food is served.

It is nearly impossible to find someone here who hasn't been to El Meson before.

9. Every child begged to go to Water Works every summer.

And they couldn't peel their eyes away from the window as they drove past.

10. We always know who is from out of town based on the way they pronounce the city's name.

And the people that come from really far away just give a confused stare as the read over the unfamiliar, phonetically-incorrect word.

11. We all know and love "The King of the Falls."

You can find Kenny at any big event that the city has planned, and he will always greet you with the biggest smile and friendliest attitude.

12. We can all admit to getting way too excited about Portage Crossing.

And we all watched and waited impaitently as it very slowly came together.

14. Whether you love it or hate it, we all agree that Cuyahoga Falls is one of the most beautiful places to call home.

And we wouldn't have it any other way.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
