Things are about to get stranger in our world. On July 12, 2017, Netflix announced the highly anticipated date of their show, "Stranger Things." Originally thought to be released on Halloween of this year, the second season will be released on Netflix on October 27, 2017. The show, its cast and creators have been dropping hints about their newest production on social media and during interviews. So here are 13 "stranger things" we know about season two.
1. There are nine chapters.
For season two, there will be a total of nine episodes, one more than season one. The titles of each chapter were released in a teaser clip Netflix had released when announcing season two. The episode titles are:
MadMax
The Boy Who Came Back to Life
The Pumpkin Patch
The Palace
The Storm
The Pollywog
The Secret Cabin
The Brain
The Lost Brother
2. The story line is set in 1984, one year after the events of season one.
The Duffer Brothers have said the show is continuing one year after Will had been found and how the characters are adjusting to the aftermath. As we have seen in stills from scenes and a sneak peak, the characters are embracing the trends of 1984 like "Ghostbusters."
3. Instead of being a continuation of season one, the new season will be treated as a sequel.
The official title of this season is "Stranger Things 2." The Duffer Brothers had said previously they have chosen to call season 2 by this name because season one ended with all its questions answered and the ending leading into its sequel. The new season will present new questions and explore new things.
4. Season two will be focusing on Will Byers and how his experiences in the Upside Down affect his life in Hawkins.
Season one left use watching Will Byers vomit some odd substance from the Upside Down. Will this continue into this season? How does Will come to terms with his town believing he was dead for so long? What will he face back at school?
5. Steve and Will are officially regularly occurring characters.
Will has always been a focus of the show so this choice makes sense. Steve, though, was originally suppose to die during season one but the Duffer Brothers loved the actor who plays him, Joe Keery, so much that they did not want him to leave. Therefore Nancy ended up with Steve at the end of season one. How will Steve's character be now that he knows more about the Upside Down?
6. The show will involve new characters and have more than one setting.
While we do not know much about the new setting being brought into the show, we do know the first episode starts there and is somehow connected to Hawkins.
We will also be meeting a new crew of characters: Max and Billy Montgomery, Roman, Dr. Owens, Bob Newby and Murray Bauman.
7. While Barb will not be returning herself, her character will still be part of the story line.
In season one, we learned Barb was killed by the demogorgon, no one ever brings her up again. In this season we will be getting some "justice for Barb" as Nancy wonders why her friend is no longer cared about and ventures to learn more about what happened to her best friend.
8. Eleven will be returning.
While we do not know how many episodes she will be in, Millie Bobby Brown will be reprising her role of Eleven this season. We caught a glimpse of her during the "Stranger Things" Super Bowl commercial. Nothing else has been released about what Eleven will be doing this season.
9. The show's tone will be even darker than before.
But we know our favorite gang will be able to handle whatever comes their way.
10. The new monster is scarier than the demogorgon.
I mean the monster is literally shown in the clouds as a giant so I am curious to see how else it will compare to season one's monster.
11. Joyce Byers will have a love interest.
Sean Astin will be coming to Hawkins as Bob Newby, an aged nerd who went to high school with Joyce and Hopper. He is the manager of Hawkins's RadioShack and will be Joyce's new love interest. I am very excited for Astin joining the cast as "The Goonies" is my favorite movie of the 1980s. Hopefully we will get a little tribute to this gem.
12. The show's theme for season two is all about the Upside Down.
As "Stranger Things 2" will be centered around what has happened to Will, we will be able to learn more about the parallel world that has opened up to ours.
13. It has been revealed that there is a falling out between characters.
Because there has been a year since all that has happened, we know that many things can change. We do not know which characters have gone their separate ways, but this new monster will probably bring them back together.
As we look forward to "Stranger Things 2", you can rewatch season on Netflix as many times as you would like. So until October 27, may you continue to enjoy your Eggo waffles.
