As a '90s baby, I consider myself pretty lucky to have grown up in a time when there was more to life than iPads at the dinner table and hover-boarding through the mall. Here are 14 things that I just had to have growing up, that kids today would make fun of me for.
1. Tamagotchi
If you weren't hatching eggs or cleaning up your Tamagotchi's poo during recess, then what were you even doing?
2. Polly Pocket
My sister and I had dozens of rubbery outfits for our pocket-sized dolls.
3. Game Boy
Kids today will *gasp* when we tell them the original Game Boy screen didn't light up.
4. Razor Electric Scooter
I can assure you that I was the coolest kid in the neighborhood whipping around on this bad boy.
5. Crocs
Not only did I have to have multiple pairs of these light-weight, bright, rubbery shoes, I had to have the Jibbitz, or charms, that were made to fit inside the holes of the shoes.
6. Webkinz
I had about 50 different Webkinz, prices ranging from $15 to $25 at their peak. You can only imagine the sheer look of horror on my face when I recently saw some for $1 at the Dollar Tree.
7. Silly Bandz
So very simple, but so very genius. Who would've thought making symbol and animal shaped rubber bands would make someone millions.
8. Popcorn Shirts
The true and original "one size fits all" garment. I got one of these stretchy bubble shirts for Christmas one year and I was absolutely thriving. I've been staring at the above photo for several minutes and still cannot figure out why, or even how, this was a thing.
9. Shutter Shades
My parents refused to buy me these, even though all of the cool kids were wearing them in middle school...but why?
10. Arm Sweatbands
Why? Why didn't my parents love me enough to stop me from wearing these? What sport are arm sweatbands even for? I have so many unanswered questions.
11. Hair Feathers
I don't remember exactly why this happened or how this happened, I just remember going to school one day and every girl had these thin feathers clipped into their hair.12. Tiffany & Co. bracelets and necklaces
The richest girls in school had these, which wasn't me.
13. Heelys
Yesterday's Heelys are tomorrow's hoverboards.14. iDog
The robo-pup that lit up and moved along to the beat of the music. They even made sweaters and socks that you could put on them...which I had.
The '90s and early 2000s may have had some whacky trends, but they sure were fun times.
