Moms. Our moms are our truest friend, safest confidant, and most loyal companions (at least they should be).

We grow up wishing we could be just like them and we get our wish because no matter what we do or how different we think we are from our moms, we're just like them. While it can be horrifying, it's also endearing. Not matter what we do, we will find ourselves laughing, talking, arguing, shopping, cooking, cleaning and dressing just like our moms.

Here are some signs you really are your mother's daughter.

1. You look the same

You're basically twins and you're not sure if you're annoyed or flattered when everyone says, "You look so much like your mom!"

2. You sound the same

Everyone confuses you two on the phone, which can be fun, if you're trying to trick your little brother. It only becomes awkward when her husband or boyfriend calls.

3. Same routine

You've basically watched her get ready in the morning your whole life and now you find yourself repeating her same morning routine.

4. Same body gestures and facial expression

Not only do you look like her physically, but you realize you've started talking with your hands wildly the same way she does. And you realize you start pulling the same facial expressions and have started mastering "the look" she so often gave you.

5. Same word phrases

You've also started using the same words and phrases she used while you were growing up. Words like "hangry" has a whole new meaning now that you're older.

6. Keep the same traditions

Maybe when you were younger, unwrapping one present at a time Christmas morning was torture, but now you've started yelling at everyone saying, "One at a time! I want to see all of you open them!"...Even though you're the one who wrapped them.

7. Learned to cook...or the lack of cooking

You've started the same grocery list and start bossing everyone around in your kitchen telling them exactly what they need to do. Or if you're mother didn't cook, well, who wants pizza?

8. Fight the same

She might have passed down her peace loving skills...or more likely her arsenal of weapons.

9. You love the same

You see the bad and the good and realize you've also gained her special way of loving other people.

10. Same interests

Hobbies, favorite stores, favorite restaurants, favorite way to relax, movies, books...all from your mom.

11. Same TV shows

HGTV? Allllllll day. Everyday. Don't forget American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Bachelor and Bachelorette, Cooking Channel and QVC.

12. Same parenting style

Whether you're bossing around your siblings, babysitting, have children of your own, or perhaps just mother your roommates, you've realized all those parenting styles your mom did and hated while growing up, you now do them too.

13. Best secret keeper

Moms always the best listener, and just like her, you've become the best secret keeper to all your friends and family.

Sometimes being compared to your mom can get annoying, but she made you didn't she? And who else would you rather be like than your mom?

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
