You've heard it a thousand times, "You're too skinny."
It's considered rude to talk about someone who is overweight, but if you're skinny it's no big deal. Skinny shaming couldn't possibly be a real thing. Well it is, and here are onlysomeof the struggles we deal with on a daily basis:
1. You're told every day that you need to eat something.
Yeah, you're right. I never eat. I don't even know how I'm alive right now.
2. When you do eat, people are surprised how much you put away.
MY STOMACH IS A BLACKHOLE.
3. When you order a ton of food and the cashier looks at you funny.
They even have the audacity to ask, "Are you sure you can eat all of that?" Yeah, I'm sure. And actually, would you go ahead and add ANOTHER cheeseburger to that order please?
4. Being asked if you need help carrying something because you don't look like you can handle it.
5. Don't bother telling anyone you're going to work out because they'll tell you that you don't have to.
Working out is more than just maintaining your figure, it's for your health as well.
6. Being called a twig, toothpick, or any other small item that makes absolutely no sense.
Just because you don't think it's insulting doesn't mean that it isn't.
7. Trying to find clothes that actually fit you.
Even a size small can make you look like you're being swallowed whole.
8. Anytime you wear skinny jeans or leggings, your feet look huge.
9. "I hate you, you're so skinny."
10. Being told that someone would love to have your "problem."
As if your insecurities mean nothing. We have feelings too you know.
11. People chalking up your weight to an eating disorder.
12. You're always cold.
You've pretty much got a light jacket or cardigan on at all times.
13. "Real men want curves, not bones."
No, real men want whatever they want.
Can we stop bashing skinny people in order to make the other feel better? Or how about we stop bashing weight in general?
Ladies, you're beautiful no matter what your weight. Love yourself.
