13 Signs You Played High School Field Hockey

While I was growing up, field hockey was a huge part of my life. I have so many cherished memories because of it, both on and off the field. From it, I gained a lifelong family, and I actually met the girl who has now been my best friend for about eight years now from it.

Through the sweat, tears and sometimes blood, field hockey is by far the greatest sport that you can be a part of and here are some things that you know to be true if you played in high school (or middle school).

1. You have a permanent shin guard line.

2. Seeing anything Team USA Field Hockey related always makes you so happy.

3. Even though you haven't played in years, you still always run to the field hockey sticks every time you go in Dick's Sporting Goods or Sports Authority.

4. They're two completely different sports, but there's a special place in your heart for the NHL and ice hockey.

5. Bus rides to away games are some of your best memories from high school.

6. You remember playing before the rule of having to wear protective eye gear.

7. It's a kilt, not a skirt.

8. Just thinking about suicide runs now seriously gives you pain.

9. You think back to your coaches as being some of the most influential people in your life.

10. Anytime you meet someone that also played field hockey, you instantly become friends because you have so much that you can talk about.

11. There is a huge difference between playing on grass and playing on turf.

12. Never forgetting the taste of mouth guards.

13. You know that you will always miss playing on a field hockey team, but they will always be your second family.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
