13 Signs You Were Obsessed With Horses As A Kid

It seems like 95 percent of all females go through "the horse phase" when they are younger. I don't know what it is with horses, but these beautiful creatures capture the minds of little girls between the ages of five and twelve, and it's all we can think about. Eat, breathe and sleep horses. Some may argue that they didn't go through the horse phase or it was just a small thing that they grew out of. Or you could be like me and you never quite grew out of the stage. Ever. Here are several signs that show you were obsessed with horses when you were younger.

1. You galloped around the house like a horse.

I don't know how my parents put up with this because I am a heavy footed person. Add in galloping around on top of that and the chandeliers shook when I galloped through a room.

2. You pretended your bike was a horse.

This may have just been me. But I rode my bike as if it was a horse. I perfected side saddle, jumps and dressage on that thing. If only it had four legs instead of two wheels.

3. You took horseback riding lessons.

Just about everyone takes riding lessons at some point in time if they went through the horse obsession phase.

4. You perfected the neighing sounds of a horse.

If I was in another room, you would've thought a horse was in the house.

5. You asked Santa for a horse for Christmas.

Every single year. I got tons of plastic horses, but never a real one.

6. And you still continue to ask for one. Even as an adult.

You never know what can happen!

7. You wore cowboy boots every day of the year.

What can I say, some things never change.

8. You ate carrots as if you were a horse.

My mom won best mom award of the year because she would buy me a full size carrot to eat. But then again, she was probably just glad I wanted to eat vegetables.

9. You loved country music.

Still, to do this day, country music is all I listen to.

10. You dreamed of the day you could go to Kentucky.

The rolling hills and barns filled with race horses was like a fairy tale land far far away. I still hope to go there some day.

11. And you dreamed of going to Nashville, Tennessee.

Home of country music and cowboy boots.

12. Every time you drove past a field, you would search high and low for a horse.

There was always one out there, I just know it!

13. You knew every breed and type of horse out there.

I was a walking dictionary of facts on horses. Breed, done. Care, done. How to ride, done. I was your girl for all things horses.

Some people go through this horse phase and it slowly fades away while others hold on to it. For me, there will always be horses in my soul. I don't really know what it is that is so captivating about these creatures, but I know that I will always have a place for horses in my life.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
