13 Signs You Grew Up In Eagan, Minnesota

Growing up in the greatest city in the world (Eagan, MN) comes with loads of traditions. Whether it be going to Dominik's Pizza (Doms) or cheering on our favorite football team in the Pit every Friday night, Eagan was the place to be growing up.

1.First, you don’t call it Eagan, you call it E-town

E-town baby, go Wildcats!

2. When the outlet mall opened, you freaked out (in a good way).

Even though the Mall of America is only 15 minutes away, having a massive outlet mall right in Eagan filled with discounted clothes is amazing.

3. You've gone to the end of Pilot Knob

It's the perfect place to take a super artsy pic, especially at night when the skyline of downtown Minneapolis is magnificent.

4. Your biggest rival is Eastview

I mean what even is a lightening? And also, get a city!

5. The Pit dominates every Friday night.

If you had the privilege to attend Eagan High School, then you would know that the place to be on a Friday night during the fall was in the Pit cheering on our Wildcat football team.

6.McDonalds parking lot was the hangout spot when you were younger

The McDonald's off of Lexington and Diffley was the hot spot for young teens to hang when they had nowhere else to go. But when you saw cop cars there you knew for sure that there was a drug bust going down.

7. Walking to Dunn Bros after school

When you weren't able to drive in middle school, you're favorite thing to do with your friends was to walk to Dunn Bros and Little Caesars after school.

8. One word, Doms

Dominick's Pizza is hands down the greatest restaurant in Eagan. Whether it be there pizza, Phillys, or cheese curds; the food and the people are incredible!

9. Cascade Bay

It is THE most popular water park in Minnesota and was WCCO viewers’ choice for best outdoor water park in Minnesota 2015!!

10. Schulze Beach

If you aren't in the mood for screaming children and watersides, you would head down to Schulze lake and enjoy their sandy beach for some sunbathing.

11. Senior spring break = BARCELO!

You knew the place to be senior year spring break was the Barcelo in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Being in Mexico with all your best friends was just sort of amazing.

12. CherryBerry was all the rage when it first opened

People freaked when they found out Eagan would finally have a frozen yogurt place. Going to CherryBerry multiple times a week was totally the norm.

13. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat

And to top it off, the wise words from our favorite Crim teacher Todd Carlson, "Stay out of jail, don't call me for bail money."

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
