13 Shows To Add To Your Netflix Watch List
Netflix

My Netflix "my list" is full of series I've started to watch and haven't finished, series I've finished but can't wait for the next season or series that I haven't even started yet. So here are some recommendations from my Netflix "my list" that I would encourage you to add to yours for some binge watching. This list has both classic TV series to Netflix originals.

1. Law and Order: Special Victims Unit

"Law and Order: SVU" has five seasons on Netflix. This is your classic crime drama that has been one of the longest running TV series. This series is for those one or two snow days you get each year.

2. House of Cards

If you haven't started watching this one, it is a 10/10 would recommend. This series is rated mature and may not be suitable for children under 17. This series is definitely political but is described as cerebral and dark. One of the reviews of the shows says, "for the longest time, I debated watching this show. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting as long as I did. This show is one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. The writing, the acting, the camera work, everything is top notch. Kevin Spacey brilliantly plays Francis J. Underwood to the point where I forget this is just actor playing a role. "House of Cards" not only deserves all the praise and awards it has received, it stands as proof that network television has something to fear from original online programming."

3. Bloodline

This Netflix original is all about a family from the Florida Keys. Although the series starts off slow, it begins to hook you into the story line and you find yourself watching hours and hours of the show to find out the suspenseful ending.

4. Stranger Things

This new Netflix original is a sci-fi thriller. A review described this series has "campy, creepy, X-Files meets E.T. meets Harry Potter." I highly recommend watching this series with someone else just so you aren't too scared to be alone.

5. Longmire

This crime TV show is based out west in a small town and an Native American reservation. This show does a great job of mixing a new age crime drama with an old western.

6. Narcos

This is all about the story of Pablo Escobar. Escobar was a drug king pin in Colombia. This series tells all about Escobar's drug trafficking, his bribery of the government and the involvement of the U.S.

7. How to Get Away with Murder

Immerse yourself back into Shondaland. Shonda Rhimes (director of "Grey's Anatomy") has created a suspenseful crime drama with "How to Get Away with Murder."

8. House

"House" is a classic medical TV drama that, in my opinion, rivals "Grey's Anatomy." Hugh Laurie plays a sarcastic doctor named House who has an uncanny way of trying to safe his patients.

9. The Office

This classic sitcom is one I would recommend for anyone. You can even use quotes of this show in daily life to make friends*. Check out this hilarious scene from "The Office."

10. Royal Pains

This TV show runs the story line of a start up concierge doctor service in the Hamptons. This series has become one of my favorites of all time.

11. Orange is the New Black

This Netflix original has been the cat's meow ever since its release. This series is definitely not suitable for children and can be quite vulgar.

12. Burn Notice

This series is full of action and adventure. I definitely recommend this for those of you who are into the Miami crime lifestyle.

13. Breaking Bad

"Breaking Bad" has become of the best classic TV series. Follow the lead character through struggles in his life and watch him grow his business. After watching "Breaking Bad," I'd recommend watching "Better Call Saul." "Better Call Saul" is the background story of one of the characters of "Breaking Bad."

Although you may not like any shows on this list, it has opened your horizons for plenty of new Netflix series for you to binge watch on your days off. As I've gone back through my watch list I noticed I must really like crime dramas. So now I need to expand my Netflix horizons. If you have any suggestions of series to watch please place in the comment section beneath my article! Happy Netflixing and chilling.

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.

Ten Truths Every Honors Student Knows

One of the main reasons I came to Salem State was I was offered a spot in the honors program. While it offered many benefits, scholarships and priority registration to name a few, what drew me in was the strong sense of community and close knit friendships many found. I am glad to say that that I did find these things, and so much more. I found a home made up of some of the most brilliant and most unique people I have ever met. Being in an honors program creates a college experience unlike any other and creates some universal truths that really only an honors student can fully understand.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?
