Some people say that certain scents can bring back old memories and old memories are always fun to relive. Here at Bowling Green State University, we have some unique scents both on and off campus. While we're here, we may not always appreciate them or realize how much we'll miss something until after we graduate. When we do make our way back to our old stomping ground, this is the list of all the different scents that will bring back so many memories it'll hurt..in a good way.

1. That lovely sewage smell

The fresh aroma of sewage is a common occurrence on BGSU's campus. It's not something we like, but it's something we live with and eventually we don't even notice. It most often comes after the rain and during the summer. We can even smell it from the highway as we drive back to Bowling Green. It's a smell we typically don't miss after we leave Bowling Green, but it adds character.

2. Freshly made coffee from Starbucks in the Union

f there's one thing we college students need in the morning to survive class, it's coffee. If you can get there at the right time, then you don't have to wait in line to get it. And even when we do, it's so worth it.

3. Campus Pollyeyes Stuffed Breadsticks

If there's one thing that matters in Bowling Green, it's Campus Pollyeyes. Their stuffed breadsticks are the bomb dot com. These heavenly cheese filled breadsticks can also be filled with your favorite pizza toppings for a double dose of awesome. Add a side of their homemade ranch sauce and you will never be the same person after that first bite.

4. Cookie Jar cookies fresh out of the oven

Each month, Cookie Jar creates a special cookie for every day of that month. Their variety includes everything from the typical chocolate chip, peanut butter, and snickerdoodle, to maple bacon with a side of maple buttercream frosting, orange creamsicle, and the "Inception" cookie. That chocolate chip cookie with an Oreo shoved in the middle always has us drooling.

5. Taco Bell after walking home from the bars at two a.m.

On Saturday nights, it's typical to see our Taco Bell packed with inebriated college students after the bars start closing down. Even though we have to wait in a giant line that seems like it'll take forever, that night crew has their food prep down pat. Thank you Taco Bell. You are the real MVP.

6. The Oaks and Carillon Place

Walking to and from campus, there's always the smell of fresh food coming from the dining halls, like The Oaks and Carillon Place. There's nothing worse than walking by and being hungry but not having enough time to sit down and eat.

7. El Zarape's amazing tacos

When we don't want fast food Mexican, we head straight over to El Zarape for the most amazing tacos and margaritas. Even though we always end up stuffing our faces with the chips and salsa dip before our food comes out, we still manage to make room for the main course.

8. Steak n' Shake in the Union

The new 2017 addition to the Bowen Thompson Student Union that replaced our beloved Steak Escape was Steak N' Shake. Even though we will forever miss our Steak Escape, those Steak N' Shake burgers are drool-worthy and the milkshakes make it worth it.

9. The gyros from South Side 6

When we want the best Mediterranean food in Bowling Green, South Side 6's gyros are no joke.

10. Mister Spots famous Philly Cheese Steaks

Even though Bowling Green, Ohio is nowhere near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we can still get our little piece of Philly from Mister Spots. Throw in the waffle fries and we're hooked.

11. Fresh coffee and books at Grounds For Thought

There's nothing better than fresh handmade coffee with a side of books and Grounds For Thought has the best of the both worlds. We can sit here for hours with our coffees and lattes and comb through the stacks and stacks of books they offer.

12. The Cherry Blossom Trees on campus

When the Cherry Blossom bloom every Spring, it's a very flowery wonderful scent.

13. The free buttery popcorn at Brathaus

If there's one thing we college kids enjoy, it's free buttery popcorn alongside our beers at one of our favorite bars, Brathaus.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
