13 Reasons Why

The popular Netflix original has reaped a monsoon of attention now that the new season has just released. If you're anything like me, you've already binged watched the entire season in a few days. Oops.

The show follows a young highschooler named Clay as he tries to find justice for his once love, Hannah. This show covers a lot of hard-to-talk-about subjects such as rape, violence, and overall mental health.

This list of 13 reasons why NOT idea came as a response to the scene in which Clay discovers Hannah had a list of reasons why she wouldn't kill herself. Unfortunately, the list was a no-go in preventing that, but there was like the show says, more reasons WHY NOT than WHY. Here are my top 13.

1. Friends:

As a student who has first-hand experience with fellow students who have lost their lives to tragedy, it is not in vain. Their memories last beyond the initial death and saying goodbye NEVER gets any easier.

2. Family:

No one wants to have to see their daughter or son die before their time. Nor do they want to blame themselves for eternity if they failed as a parent.

3. Travel:

The world is so big. It goes beyond high school drama and you deserve to take life for every ounce of what its got. Explore every inch.

4. Food:

This seems a bit self explanatory but food is life. So treat yourself to food that makes you feel good inside and out.

5. THE ONE:

If you think no one cares for you truly then look closer. There might just be a Clay Jensen waiting in the wings to not only be your best friend but the one for you.

6. School:

Hierarchies are stupid. Here's a bit of life advice. It's hard to imagine a world beyond high school, or even college for that matter, but it does get better. Find your niche, people that care about things past the superficial.

7. Movies:

Binge watch your favorite movies. It's me, myself, and I and you shouldn't have to have someone else to depend on for happiness.

8. Puppies:

They make everything better; let's be real here.

9. Pictures:

Worth 1000 words and sometimes when I feel most lonely, I like to look back on old memories. Looking at them I'm instantly thankful for what I've accomplished and things I've been able to experience so far in my life.

10. Kitties:

Softer than a cashmere blanket, they cuddle up to you and instantly bring a sense of peaceful comfort.

11. Music:

While what your feeling seems like it only happens to you, chances are someone has written a song that perfectly describes it, meaning they've been through the same thing.

12. Sports:

Even if it isn't competitive, it gets you motivated and out and about.

13. Teachers:

They are here not only to help you in your studies but I promise that they will be a non-judgemental ear when you need it.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
