I grew up in a super Christian-based household. From going to church every time the doors were open to actually opening the doors for various reasons to having a youth minister then pastor as a father, I have seen most of all of what goes on in order to keep a church running. One thing is certain: none of these supplies or anything is free. There is a price to everything, and those funds do not come easy. Here are 13 reasons why you just should start tithing as a Christian.
1. The Bible says so.
WWJD? In Luke 18:12, Jesus was speaking. Point blank.
2. Children's church means snacks are gone within a short few weeks.
I work in children's church often; we try to limit them, but I still wonder how it is possible to have to buy more giant boxes of juice every three weeks.
3. God said let there be light!
But He can't give us light unless if you help pay the light bill.
4. Do you wanna be able to hear the message?
Or are you just looking to play games for no reason?
5. The pastor spends more time than you think for the church.
Have you even tried to put together just one sermon? My father has studied the Bible for such a long time now because that's how he hears from God on what to say and read. Also members love to be visited when they go to the hospital. (Bonus if you also thought about the cost for gas!)
6. Remember that Mother's or Father's Day gift you received from your church?
Yeah. The church leaders don't just ask for donations. They used a little thing called money.
7. Does your church have a bus or van?
Some teens and children have no way of getting to church. Gas prices will always be ridiculous, and so will insurance for multiple people.
8. If you clean the church, you'll noticed a few resources tend to run a bit low.
Trash bags, toilet cleaner, Clorox wipes, soap, toilet paper, etc.
9. God WILL provide your needs...
IF you tithe. You show a lack of faith if you decide not to tithe.
10. God brings joy when you tithe.
I recently got a job, so I am now a tither. The first time I put a check in the offering plate for what I earned, I have never once regretted it one bit. I could care less about what is in my bank account now.
11. You are setting an example for your children.
As a child, my grandmother always gave my brother and I a quarter to put in the offering plate when it came around. I also grew up seeing my parents make a generous donation to the church every week. This really ingrained the idea of tithing and giving more than 10% exciting as I grew older. I am not one bit afraid to budget my tithes into my bills one day as an adult.
12. You're robbing yourself!
My father talks about this all the time. If you go to church, don't tithe, and are a Christian, God will take away that money one way or another. It's the consequence, like when you got spanked as a child for whatever you did. This could end up when your fridge goes out, a window get broken, you have to replace a transmission, etc.
13. Souls need to be saved.
Money is needed for resources such as tracks, gas to visit people, and other resources that help bring people into the church doors. These funds also help give the church the ability to counsel new Christians for them to one day go out into the world and preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior.
