13 Reasons Why You Should Go On A Cruise For Vacation
Kelsey Day

Can you say you've lived on the ocean for a week? Can you say you had 24/7 room service? With cruising, you can! Carnival cruises are hands down the best. I have never had a bad experience cruising with Carnival, and I've been on four cruises (and counting). I've met some of the best friends while cruising with Carnival and these cruises have become more than just vacations; they're a lifestyle! Here are 13 reasons why you should go on a cruise for vacation!

1. They're affordable.

Even on a college student budget, I have been able to pay for my own cruises. It's nice to be able to spend your hard-earned money on reasonable vacations.

2. You get amazing pictures.

This picture was taken in St. Maarten; one of the places I have gone on one of my cruises. You get to experience amazing views just like this one if you choose to go! Make sure you have your camera (or in this generation your iPhone) to capture photos like this!

3. They're exciting.

From scavenger hunts in the teen club to Christmas decorations still being up. You'll never know what you're going to get which is so exciting! There's always something happening on the ship and you're guaranteed to find something you'll enjoy.

4. You'll get a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Who else can say they zip lined through the rainforest in Belize?! Not many people! By cruising with Carnival, you'll get to zip line through the rainforest or go cave tubing (which I did) in almost any place you visit!

5. You'll meet life-long friends.

I've met some of my very best friends from Carnival cruises! I've been blessed with the most random encounters with people that I now go on every cruise with. Who knew that sitting with two random girls at dinner would lead to amazing things? Shoutout to Carly and Cassidy; love y'all!

6. You get to experience the native animals.

If you're an animal lover or not; seeing and even interacting with the domestic animals is a once in a lifetime experience! Being able to hold these little monkeys in St. Kitts was so cool and it's something Carnival offers to their passengers.

7. You get to live somewhere else for a week.

So going on a cruise is basically short-term college. You get to completely move into a new room for a week (or however long you choose to go on your cruise). It's a new scene to wake up to every day and new fluffy hotel pillows that you get to sleep on; which is the best part.

8. You get to visit popular places you see on TV.

After seeing commercials on TV for Senor Frog's and Margaritaville, you can only dream about visiting those places. With cruising, you get to turn those dreams into a reality. Margaritaville in Grand Turk is all that I imagined and more.

9. You get to escape reality.

Right then, I was sitting on the edge of an old fort in Puerto Rico with no worries in the world. I was in an alternate reality and it was great! The actual reality of it was that in a few short days I would be returning to school. With a lot of work and with no beautiful ocean view.

10. You get to eat the best food.

Where else can you get Honey Nut Cheerio's covered french toast (insert heart eye emoji)! On cruises, you get the best food. Along with the constant buffet's and amazing dinner every night; there's 24-hour room service. What else could you ask for?

11. The shopping experiences are like no other.

Although this picture is of my friends and I shopping at Marshalls which is found in the United States...the shopping experiences are wonderful. There are so many native and cultural items you can buy while traveling that are like no other. Not to mention the prices are a lot cheaper than in the U.S. so you can stock up on all of the awesome, cultural items you want.

12. Cruising gives you chances to match with your friends.

Although matching is a little bit middle schoolish, cruises for special occasions gives you the chance to match with your friends! My last summer cruise was a celebration for graduating high school and my friends and I all got matching shirts with our monograms on the back (which were super cute)!

13. You'll get valuable family time.

Yes, you see your family every day but on a cruise, you live with them for a week. Being in the Caribbean or Mexico plus not having to worry about work or school equals a happy family. There's bound to be some fights but it should be mostly smooth sailing (pun intended).

So, here's a huge shout-out to Carnival for being the best cruise line! You've brought me life-long friends, unforgettable experiences, and the best food I've ever eaten. I'll be seeing you again real soon!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
