If you somehow don’t know who Lin-Manuel Miranda is, let me tell you, he is one of the most incredible creators of today. His Broadway musicals “In The Heights” and “Hamilton: An American Musical” have not only won the hearts of many, but have changed Broadway for the better.

He wrote sonnets for his Tony acceptance speeches that captivated the world. And his social media presence makes you feel like you’re having a one-on-one conversation with him. But, just in case you’re not convinced, here are 13 reasons to love Lin-Manuel Miranda:

1. The way he changed Broadway

With Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda brought Broadway back. Hamilton has done so much for the theatre community in terms of media presence, diversity, and ticket sales.

2. His daily good morning tweets

What's better than a "good morning" tweet from a famous celebrity? These tweets are genuine, honest, and funny. It's never a bad day when you read these!

3. His SNL host monologue from 2016

As he parodies "My Shot" from Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda shows us his excitement to be there. Look at how happy he is. Adorable.

4. “The Crucible Cast Party” music video

This video that Miranda appeared in brought theatre kids everywhere to uncontrollable laughter, and the general public too. Watch it here to see the perfection for yourself.

5. His appearance in Carpool Karaoke

This episode of Carpool Karaoke was absolutely legendary. Lin-Manuel Miranda starts by rapping some Hamilton with James Corden, and it ends with some magnificent Les Miserables with a cast of Broadway legends. Here it is!

6. His sonnet acceptance speech at the 2016 Tony Awards

Any person who can write in iambic pentameter is deserving of all love and kindness. "And love is love is love is love is love is love is love/cannot be killed or swept aside/I sing Vannessa's symphony, Eliza tells her story,/Now fill the world with music, joy, and pride."
Incredible.

7. His portrayal of Usnavi in “In The Heights”

He created AND starred in this musical. And what a musical! 12 Tony nominations, four wins, and a show that still captures everyone's hearts today.

8. His portrayal of Alexander Hamilton in “Hamilton: An American Musical”

Lin-Manuel Miranda's masterpiece. It changed Broadway for the better, with a diverse cast, the fastest set of lyrics in Broadway history (in "Guns and Ships"), and a show that has people of all ages sobbing by the end.

9. He freestyle rapped with Emma Watson beatboxing

An activist freestyle rap with the goddess Emma Watson herself beatboxing? Yes please.

10. His activism

Peruse Lin-Manuel's Twitter page and you'll find a lot of Tweets calling people to action. He's using the voice afforded by his celebrity status to forward messages of activism.

11. He made the Hamilton Mixtape

The Mixtape showcased remixes of the Broadway cast recording, as well as songs that didn't make the cut for the final show. Broadway fans everywhere can now trick their friends into listening to Hamilton in the car!

12. He loves his family so, so much

He's there for his family. He loves his family. And you should love him for that. Commend that.

13. Honestly, he’s just an all-around good person

Seriously, what's not to love about this lovely human being?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
