Even though summer 2016 hasn't officially come to a close yet, the feeling of fall is in the air and people are already breaking out their sweaters. When the pumpkin spice-flavored items become available at Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks, and the fall-themed decorations become available in retail stores, it seems that just about everyone puts summer out of their minds and gets ready for fall. Even Snapchat has a filter that says goodbye to summer. But, as always, there are people still hanging on to summer. And yes, it's still not over, but to get those people in-line with the rest of the country, here's a list of reasons to be excited for fall.
1. No more sweltering 90+ degree days
No more getting your thighs stuck to seats with sweat. No more stepping outside and immediately getting sweat stains on your shirt. No more worrying about passing out from heat exhaustion. Fall is a much more forgiving season than summer.
2. It's socially acceptable to be inside during the fall
In the summer, it's always "Why are you inside on a day like this?" But in the fall, it's more like "Let's get inside and watch movies all day!"
3. You can wear sweaters and scarves
I think Carlton would agree with me that sweaters are like a warm hug, be they Christmas-themed or not. And scarves are a cute bonus!
4. Fall jackets are the coolest
The fall months are cool, yet warm enough for just a light jacket to get you by. This allows for style rather than practicality to be top priority in your jacket choice. A stylish fall jacket is a wardrobe staple.
5. A new semester begins
When I was younger, I used to hate the end of summer because it meant going back to school. But now, in college, the end of summer sounds great because it means that a new semester begins and I can start fresh again.
6. You can light candles to make your home more cozy
Same, Britney.
7. Fall brings Thanksgiving
The holiday where we give thanks and stuff our faces with food. It's one of the reasons why people gain weight in the fall/winter, but it means good food, so we all forgive it.
8. We are one step closer to Christmas
Need I say more?
9. You can get comfy in blankets
In the summer, you get comfy by going inside and turning on the air condition. In the fall, you get comfy with a nice blanket and maybe a pet or two. Which sounds better?
10. The leaves change colors
Sure, the green grass and trees look nice and healthy now, but don't all of the fall colors look beautiful?
11. Fall colors are the bomb
Burgundy, red, plum, olive, gray, and other dark and neutral tones are it for fall. From nail polish to makeup to clothing and accessories -- these colors dominate fall.
12. Halloween
Even if you don't celebrate or go trick-or-treating, Halloween has a lot of fun to offer, like costumes, movies, music, jack-o-lanterns, and more.
13. Pumpkin Spice everything
I, myself, am not a fan of pumpkin spice, but I know almost everybody else is. There's nothing that introduces fall better than pumpkin spice everything.
Fall is approaching no matter what, so we might as well enjoy it, right? Let's let summer go out gracefully and welcome fall with open arms. I can't be the only one sick of the heat anyway!
