Modern times are changing everyday and with the changes we have seen a rise in social media. Another unfortunate look at the modern age is all the news about police departments. So what happens when police meet twitter? Well my small town police department has been on twitter since March of 2014 and while they tweet the normal arrests, sometimes things get interesting around Dixon, IL. Here's some lessons I've learned from the Dixon, IL Police department.

1. 'Just Say No To Drugs,' kids.

2. Sports are important.

3. Don't shame the PSL.

4. There are excuses to getting out of speeding tickets.

5. Don't insult the driver.

6. Consider sharing your food.

7. Get your story straight.

8. Night shift may make you fat.

9. Stupid people, stupid people everywhere.

10. Teamwork is important in life.

11. Portillos is enticing to literally everyone.

12. Always lock your doors. Always.

13. Leave candy for your buddies.
