13 Reasons Why That 70's Show Is Actually About Your Hometown Friends

sSo I’ve been abroad this semester and have recently found myself binging on that 70’s show. Maybe it’s because I miss my friends, but I can’t help but think of them every time I watch, and I know I’m not the only one. So here's a shout-out to all those other people out there who are lucky enough to have had a group of That 70’s Show quality goons to take on their high school shenanigans with.

  1. Just like the good ol' Forman basement, your friends had one or two main houses that you almost always ended up hanging out at.

2. There was one person in the group that basically had a talent for accidentally saying the most inappropriate thing at the most inappropriate time, at a volume much higher than necessary. This includes but is not limited to: restaurants, class, anytime parents were around, etc.” For example, a dear friend of mine was sitting in the passenger seat on the way home from a party. His sober driver was pulled over for speeding. The cop noticed my pal looking a little off and proceeded to ask “what are you on son?” Channeling his best Michael Kelso, my friend innocently replied, “Officer, I’m ON my way home.” You can imagine the nice police man’s amusement.

3. Closely related, there was also the pal that always managed to get hurt or in trouble. More often than not, this was the same person as above.

4. You had at least 1 instance where 2 people in your group decided to start dating. At first everyone was like WTF, but eventually you all got over it and began using the couple as a topic for jokes, which they begrudgingly dealt with because they wouldn’t expect anything less.

5. There was the one parent that everyone was slightly afraid of, although he/she probably didn’t constantly threaten to put a foot in a certain unwelcome area.

6. When someone invited a new person to come hang with you guys, you suddenly became strikingly aware of how incredibly weird you all are together. You tried to tone it back a notch until you evaluated if the person was on your level.

7. The best words that could possibly be written in the group message were “my parents are going out of town.” This was almost a direct translation to “I’m throwin' a party y’all” or “You guys are going to need to use your roles as my delinquent friends to convince me to throw a party because I know I should take advantage of this opportunity but I’m too nervous.” Either way, it was gonna be a good weekend.

8. You always had people to talk to about your problems without being worried about judgement. Even if they weren't always helpful, they at least always made you laugh.

9. Even if you didn't want to talk about something, if it was funny or embarrassing in any way, all of your friends eventually found out regardless. Kelso's not the only one that loves a good burn.

10. You easily spent just as long trying to figure out something to do as actually doing it.

11. And usually ended up giving up and hanging out in, you guessed it, someone's basement.

12. But that was perfectly enjoyable because you never ran out of things to talk about and the company was unbeatable.

13. Once you graduate you see each other less, and college has you saying this:

But when you come home for breaks and everyone's together again, that's the only thing that seems to matter.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
