We all know that "Hocus Pocus" is a cult classic, and arguably the most popular Halloween movie. It is a Kenny Ortega film so you know it has to be amazing. He directed all of the "High School Musical" movies, choreographed the famous parade dance in "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" and directed Michael Jackson’s
This Is It." I would watch the VHS after school before trick or treat every year. I found it just the right amount of scary, not peeing your pants scary but still pretty frightening. I mean they do murder a child in the beginning by “sucking the life out her.” Nonetheless it is still a great movie that provides many laughs. I think I might love it because the girl of the main character’s dreams name is Allison. Here are my favorite one-lines. Most of which I did not understand as a child. P.S. by the DVD if you still have the VHS, the picture is incredibly clearer. I never realized that Mary had purple intertwined in her ridiculous hairstyle.
1. “Oh, look! Another glorious morning...MAKES ME SICK!”
2. “SISTAHHHS!”
The Sanderson sisters to be exact.
3. “Well said, Allison.”
4. “Well in case Jimi Hendrix shows up tonight...here’s my number.”
Then she gets his hopes up and gives it back…
5. “I’m Allison...Allison...kiss me I’m Allison.”
6. “Max likes your yabos. In fact, he loves them!”
Hysterical, never knew what this meant as a kid though.
7. “Oh come on, it’s just a bunch of hocus pocus.”
And...famous last words...
8. “What happened? A virgin lit the candle.”
Yeah, did not know what this meant as a child either. Virgin went right over my head.
9. “We desire children.” “Hey, it might take me a couple of tries, but I don’t think that’d be a problem!”
Obviously, did not know what this meant as a child either. So many sexual innuendos you miss as a kid.
10. “What is this place? It reeks of children. It is a prison for children.”
These 17th century witches are so intuitive.
11. “You know I’ve always wanted a child. And, now I think I’ll have one. ON TOAST!”
12. “Damn, damn, double damn.”
13. “I shall always be with you.”
The greatest ending ever. Two older brothers who love their baby sisters.Happy Halloween! Literally if I could put every single line from the movie on here I would. It is that good...If you haven't seen this movie I do not know if we can be friends. Pop it in the DVD player, pop some popcorn, and long for the '90s.
