13 Quotes To Put Today In Perspective

As a writer, I clearly have a love for words. I think there is something so beautiful about the perfect pairing of words, and how those words can stay with people forever.

Sometimes all it takes is one sentence out of a paragraph, or a few words on a canvas in a store, to put perspective in your life. Sometimes the ideas of someone else help you realize something that you did not even know you needed. Sometimes it is nice to know that someone has once experienced what you have. Sometimes simple words on a page can help you feel unstuck.

The quotes below have stuck with me through many experiences, and I hope they can help you, too.

1. "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it empties today of its strength" - Corrie Ten Boom

2. "Don't wait, the time will never be just right." - Napoleon Hill

3. "Wherever you go, go with all your heart." - Confucius

4. "Change is never painful, only the resistance to change is painful." - Buddha

5. "At this moment I am exactly where I need to be."

6. "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." - Lewis Carroll

7. "Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough." - Ernest Hemingway

8. "What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven't happened yet."

9. "You do not need a smaller crown--you need a man with bigger hands."

10. "The scariest moment is always just before you start."

11. "We must always welcome the end of all things. For sometimes, knowing nothing lasts forever, is the only way we can learn to fall in love with all the moments and all the people that are meant to take our breath away." - R.M. Drake

12. "Someone who wants the best for you is what's best for you."

13. "Some infinities are bigger than other infinities." - John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
