13 Places To Visit In Myrtle Beach

Since I was a baby I have been going to Myrtle Beach with my family every other year. There are some places that we have gone to that we have loved and other places that were not so good. This list that I have made is a list of the best places that we have continually gone back to each year. Some are family friendly and others are a little more adult oriented, but all in all, if you follow this list throughout your stay at the beach, then you are guaranteed to have a good time! Happy vacationing!

1. Ripley's Aquarium

Perfect place for all ages including the young and the old. Located right at Broadway at the beach it is a nice place to go to cool down and see some cool creatures. Ripley's has built more fun places since I have started going there, but I have so far only tried the aquarium and loved it!

2. Garden City Pier

Live music, drinks and activities for the kids. The Garden City Pier is the place to go for the nightlife if you're staying a little outside of the actual Myrtle Beach area. Arcade games and rides are present for the kids, while the adults can listen to a band that is usually local.

3. Drunken Jack's

The name says it all. Located in Murrells Inlet on the water, this restaurant is an experience one has to have while at Myrtle Beach. You will feel like you are actually on a pirate ship! Even though the wait is usually long, drinks and appetizers are a must on the deck overlooking the inlet. And, the food is good too!

4. Painter's Ice Cream

In my opinion, the best ice cream on the planet. When in Myrtle Beach, Painter’s is a must, you will never want to eat any other ice cream ever again. What makes it even better is that there are original homemade flavors and toppings you cannot find anywhere else.

5. Broadway At The Beach

From restaurants like Senor Frogs and Joe’s Crab Shack to basically any beach store you would want to shop at, Broadway at the Beach is the place to be, day or night. It also has a mini golf course, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and a theater with magic and illusion shows that perform nightly.

6. Myrtle Beach Watersports

You didn’t come to the beach to not be around the ocean, so why not be IN the ocean? Myrtle Beach Watersports has dolphin tours, jet ski rentals, banana boat rides, parasailing and more. It is expensive, so choose one, but they’re all a blast!

7. Sara J's Seafood Restaurant

If you come to the beach, then most likely you are a seafood fan and this is the best seafood place in Myrtle Beach. It overlooks the inlet and even has a gift shop if you need to get a souvenir. And don’t forget the hush puppies!

8. Downtown Myrtle Beach

This is where the nightlife is. With multiple bars and places to shop, downtown myrtle beach is the place to be. Also, don’t forget to visit the Skywheel for an awesome view of the beach.

9. Pawley's Island

Just a few minutes from the main Myrtle Beach area, Pawleys Island is more of a peaceful setting where you can find a million seashells. It is also famous for its stores that sell handmade hammocks.

10. Georgetown

If you have time for a day trip, then Georgetown, South Carolina is definitely worth the drive from Myrtle Beach. It is a historic town with tours running every hour. There is also a light house that would make for an awesome beach experience.

11. Medieval Times

Hopefully you’re good at eating with your hands! Because at this show you don’t get any silverware. It is a fun family experience, and hopefully your team wins the battle!

12. Surfside Beach Pier

If you want a quieter place to go fishing and grab some ice cream, then Surfside Pier is the place to go! There are less bars and less crowds, but it still has a lot of entertainment including live music. People have even caught small sharks off this pier!

13. The Beach

You came to Myrtle Beach for a reason…the beach! This is one of the best places in Myrtle Beach to hang out, and plus, it’s free! Get some sun, catch some waves and maybe even see a dolphin or two off in the distance.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
