13 Overused Instagram Captions that Make Me Cringe Everytime

I get it. Instagram captions are hard. I've spent my share of time staring at a picture for hours, trying to figure out the best one. It is tempting to fall back on one that you have seen before, but if it is one you've seen hundreds of times before, let's give it a rest. Here are some extremely overused ones that we need to leave in the past:

1. "_________ bound!" when going on vacation

There has to be another way of letting people know where you're going, since I am sure they are all dying to find out.

2. "Reunited and it feels so good"

Yes this song was great, when it came out decades ago. Now, it's only used to caption a picture of sorority girls hugging after not seeing each other for ten days.

3. Dinner/Formal/Any Other Event with "this guy"

Because using his real name would take away from your cleverness, right?

4. "Every brunette needs a blonde" or vice versa

How incredible. You associate with someone that has different hair than you. What a unique and strange occurrence. You better remind everyone about it in case they haven't noticed.

5. Anything with "squad"

Please just let that one go.

6. "It's a _______ kind of day"

Most likely a picture of this season's most popular latte. Everyday is a coffee kind of day. It feels more like a "look for better captions" kind of day

7. "The definition of our friendship"

Yes, yes I get it. Your friendship is defined by you two not being ready for a picture. How incredibly unique.

8. "No caption needed"

Okay then, like, don't put one?

9. "He's alright I guess" in reference to your boyfriend

I must admit, I prefer this over a long sappy paragraph about your boyfriend. But after seeing it below hundreds of pictures throughout the past year, I'd rather see something original.

10. "Low quality pic. High quality ______"

Just an attempt to get people to move past the horribly pixelated mess you're trying to distract us from.

11. “___ game strong.”

This is just a coy way of boasting without totally sounding like it. Caption game: not so strong

12. "Dysfunctional"

We’re in college. None of us are functioning properly. Just because you're sticking your tongue out in a blurry picture doesn't make you anymore dysfunctional than the rest of us.

13. MOST IMPORTANTLY, anything with "goals" in it

Let's make a new goal of being more original with our captions from now on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
