Most of us hate the thought of listening to or reading traditional, Christian preaching. Some of us can even predict what the preacher will say before he or she says it. But there are some preachers and teachers both old and new that might not bore you and can probably give you some insight on topics you haven't thought about before, or at least offer a fresher perspective than what you've heard in the past. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with what you've heard. But hearing a fresh perspective and then studying the Bible yourself can bring new insight and even excitement and direction where before there may have been disinterest or boredom. The Bible is relevant for life today and we can learn from pastors, teachers, evangelists, and writers that offer explanation or insight. No matter what, however, always do your own homework; that's the most important thing when a Christian wants to mature spiritually.

Here is a list of 13 must-hear preachers that likely offer something different than the traditional television evangelists or can be added in conjunction to your local pastor. The list is in no particular order.

1. Andrew Farley- Andrew Farley Ministries: Jesus plus nothing. 100% natural. No additives.

2. Craig Groeschel - Life.Church: Leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

3. Andrew Wommack - Andrew Wommack Ministries: Teaching God's unconditional love and grace.

4. Brennan Manning - Willie Juan Ministries: Encouraging men and women everywhere to accept and embrace the good news of God’s unconditional love in Jesus Christ.

5. Jefferson Bethke - Speaker, YouTube spoken-word artist, and author.

6. David Leo Schultz - Actor, comedian, author, evangelist and founder of Color Green Films: To let the world know Jesus loves them.

7. Christine Cain - Equip and Empower Ministries: To serve the local church, leaders, organizations, and individuals by inspiring and helping them connect with their God-given potential and purpose.

8. Judah Smith - Pastor of City Church in Seattle, Washington and author.

9. Blaine Bartel - Pastor and evangelist, church founder and former youth ministry director.

10. PC Walker - Speaker and author: Inspiring the heart of every person to recognize the ridiculous love of God.

11. David Mullins - Speaker, teacher, writer, musician and recently co-producer of the movie “Ragamuffin.”

12. Willie George - Pastor and founder of Church On the Move in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

13. Steven Furtick - Pastor and founder of Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina and author.

There are MANY great people who are Biblical-based preachers, teachers, and authors both in your hometown and nationally known. But I hope you will check out some of the folks on this list and that they add some spiritual growth to your life no matter how old or young you are. Check them out and list some of your favorites in a comment!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
