October is finally here. After 10 long months of anticipation, it's time for the spookiness to begin. Though it definitely doesn't feel like fall here in middle Georgia, watching movies from the comfort of my home is my favorite way to get in the spooky spirit of Halloween. So without further ado, here are 13 movies for October (obviously all on Netflix because who rents movies anymore?).
1. "HUSH"
This list wouldn't be complete without my newfound favorite movie. This film will literally keep you on the edge of your seat the entire movie and make you question just how far people are willing to go just to stay alive. 12/10, definitely recommend. Please watch this.
2. "THE BABADOOK"
I honestly don't have the words to describe just how good this movie was. It's definitely a monsters-under-the-bed film, but also so creepy and scary it'll give you chills.
3. "ODD THOMAS"
This was actually a movie I sat down and watched with my dad on a whim one day. I initially thought that it was going to be one of those lame dad movies (we all know them), but I was genuinely surprised with the acting and cinematography itself. Definitely not a horror genre movie, but still great all around.
4. "DARK SKIES"
This movie genuinely confused me and played with my brain. I hated it. But it's such a good movie, I also can't help but love it.
5. "THE AMITYVILLE HORROR" (2005)
Ryan Reynolds. Do you need any more convincing? As someone who is honestly fascinated with the Amityville Horror story, this movie definitely didn't disappoint. The original movie was very good, but this rendition deserves more recognition. Also, Ryan Reynolds.
6. "DEVIL"
Another movie my dad talked me into watching. But goodness, this one was so good. The plot itself is just really good. No spoilers though. I'm not that terrible of a person.
7. "HOUSEBOUND"
One day I was home alone, bored, and wanted to watch a movie. In retrospect, this definitely wasn't the best choice of movie to watch by myself. Definitely not a predictable movie. I was genuinely afraid for this girl.
8. "CHILDREN OF THE CORN"
The first time I ever watched this movie was right before a walked through a haunted corn maze. Needless to say, I didn't make it through the maze without crying. Anything based off of a Stephen King novel is guaranteed to be great, and this is no exception.
9."THE LAZARUS EFFECT"
I hate this movie. Absolutely hate it. It's so freaky, but so good. It gave me nightmares are days. Can we all just agree that dead people should stay dead? Please?
10. "WOULD YOU RATHER"
First of all, I love Brittany Snow. She can do no wrong. She's forced to make some pretty rough decisions while playing every high-schooler's favorite game with an awful twist.
11. "THE UNINVITED"
NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS. Such an underrated movie. Moving on.
12. "DEAD SILENCE"
If you thought Chucky was bad, then stay far, far away from this one.
13. "CREEP"
The name gives it all away. What a creepy movie.
HONORABLE MENTION: "THE SHINING"
HERE'S JOHNNY! Okay, so this one isn't on Netflix. Sue me. But if you haven't seen this movie, you're missing out and need to do so immediately.
ANOTHER HONORABLE MENTION: "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS"
My absolute favorite movie of all time. If you haven't watched it, we probably can't be friends, sorry. Also not on Netflix, so double sorry.
