It's Halloween, the start of the holiday season! I absolutely love this time of year. Halloween is great because of candy (duh!) but also because of the movies that are on TV for the month of October. So, I decided to make a list of my favorite Halloween movies for all of you. I hope you all have had a chance to watch them and if not, then what are you waiting for?!
1. Halloweentown - 1998
Growing up, everyone loved Halloweentown! Even now I still love it. It's a classic movie for kids who grew up in the late 90's and early 2000's. In my house, it's a tradition to watch this movie!
2. Freddy vs. Jason - 2003
I'm not really a fan of Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th, but I love this movie. Watching two classic killers go head to head is what makes this movie great!
3. The Little Vampire - 2000
Again, another Disney channel classic! My grandmother and I still laugh at this movie together. Plus, the friendship that Tony and Rudolph share is adorable.
4. Halloween H20: 20 years later - 1998
This is my favorite movie of the Halloween franchise. It gives the backstory of Michael and Laurie, along with show what happens when they come face to face after all that time. Jamie Lee Curtis is perfect for the role as Laurie and is a serious bad ass in this movie.
5. Hocus Pocus - 1993
We all know the words to "I put a spell on you", so don't try to front like you don't jam to it! I love all of the Sanderson sisters and their wacky ways. This movie was also my great grandma's favorite Halloween movie so it is very close to my heart.
6. Beetlejuice - 1988
If you knew me as a kid, you know that this movie scared the hell out of me. My mom used to say Beetlejuice three times and make me believe Beetlejuice was coming. Beetlejuice himself scares the hell out of me still, but I love the movie.
7. The Haunted Mansion - 2003
Eddie Murphy KILLS me in this movie. Pretty much in every funny role that he plays. This movie isn't so underrated and not really shown as much anymore, but I love it!
8. Scream - 1996
This is my FAVORITE scary movie franchise, which is actually really ironic because scream says the famous line "What's your favorite scary movie?" Scream is just great and it is one of the very few movies with sequels that are just as good as the first.
9. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 1974
This movie is inspired by the story of the notorious killer Ed Gein. The scariest thing for people is watching a movie in the dark and knowing that it's based on someone so twisted. Personally, I enjoy the newest version of the movie the most, but the original has the horror and gore that movies now just don't have.
10. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - 1966
This movie made the list because it is the Halloween classic that shows on TV every year. Everyone loves good 'ol Chuck Brown and his pals. (Don't forget to send your letters to the great pumpkin!)
11. The Strangers - 2008
Remember when I said Beetlejuice scared the hell out of me? Well think of that fear times 1000. Just like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, this movie is inspired by true events. I definitely recommend that if you watch this movie, it's during the day time.
12. Under Wraps - 1997
As you can tell from this list, I'm really a sucker for Disney Channel movies. Really, this movie just makes me giggle. That mummy is the funniest and I always wished I could be his bff
13. The Conjuring 2 - 2016
I really enjoyed this movie, even though it's not really meant to be a Halloween movie. I've always been fascinated with the stories of Ed and Lorraine Warren, so naturally I loved the first one as well. However, the second one had a story line that pulled me in more than the first one did.
So if you need a Halloween movie marathon and don't know what to watch, here you go! Have a spooky Halloween!
