Thirteen may be an unlucky number, but not when it comes to my older brother. So here are some of the reasons why I love my older brother more than anything in this world:

1. He is up to just do nothing for a night

Sometimes you have those days where you don't want to leave your bed, who better to hang out with and do nothing on those lazy days then your older brother? I couldn't tell you how many times I walked into my brother's room, sat down and did absolutely nothing but had the best of times.

2. He is the strongest person you know

When you need someone, anyone to be a rock in your family, there is no one to look up to that is stronger than your older brother. He always can twist that hard to open a jar or move something that is just a little too heavy. He is also the person that can hold back the tears and be strong when everyone else is too weak.

3. He protects you unconditionally

No one has your back better than your older brother. He is always there by your side standing up for you. He protects you from ex-boyfriends and the creeps on the streets, even protects you from your parents when you need him to. No one will stand up for you better than your older brother.

4. You always have someone to lean on when you're feeling weak

Some people have boyfriends or husbands or some other man in their life to stand as a rock when they are weak, I have my older brother. Whether it's physical or emotional, having someone as strong as him to lean on is the greatest feelings.

5. He buys you dinner

Quality time is always shared over a meal. No better way to share a meal than having your older brother pay. As a college student, nothing is better than coming home and having my brother offer to buy dinner just to catch up with good food.

6. He keeps your secrets, especially when you truly need him to

When you are a kid, the first person to blurt a secret is your brother. However, as you grow up he is the best person to confide in. Having someone to tell all your secrets to and not worry about whether they are going to tell someone else is the best.

7. You always have someone to hang out with

When your friends cancel on you and no one wants to hang out for the night, your older brother is always there. He will drop what he is doing to spend some quality time together and just chill. There is never a day where you will be bored when your brother is around.

8. They eat your leftovers

Leftovers aren't my favorite, but that's why older brothers were made to be bottomless pits. They eat everything so you don't have to. Even if he may eat the things you love, he still eats those things you hate.

9. Always someone you can get good guy relationship advice from

When you just don't understand guys, no one knows boys around your age better than your brother. He was that age recently and knows exactly what they are thinking and want. He will be the first person to tell you to drop the bad guys and when to keep the good ones.

10. Always down for a beer

When you just need to sit down and chill with a beer in hand, there is no one that is always down to enjoy a beer with better than your older brother. Hand your brother a beer and the conversation will last for hours.

11. They validate your stories

No matter how crazy the story may be, he is always right there by your side telling everyone is it true.

12. He makes you strong

Through all the fights as children whether physical or emotional, it made you strong. Your older brother is the first person to beat you up as a child or tell you something hurtful, but through it all, he was making you a stronger person each time.

13. He is always up for an adventure

Whether the adventure is out of this world or the stupidest thing he's ever heard of, he is always up for it. It can be anything from going for a drive or jumping out of a plane, he will be there.

There is no one in this world that will have your back like your older brother. No one that will always sit there by your side through everything. He is the one person in the world that goes through the same family experiences as you. No matter how much you hate him sometimes, he is the greatest gift to be given. As my brother and I say "It's you and me against the world".

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
