When Life is Getting You Wrapped Up in Worry

13 Ideas to Help Reduce Anxiety
Marissa Charlebois

Everyone goes through ruff patches and stress, but some may struggle with being anxious more than they need.. almost taking over all of their feelings about situations. Here are some ideas to possibly reduce your anxiety when you may have a big test coming up or just a stressful day. I use some of these when I'm feeling anxious during the day.

1. Meditate for 30 minutes, it does more good and calms your heart rate down, always a benefit.

2. Yoga at the gym? Try a class, its quite relaxing.

3. Take a 20 minute nap after a cup of coffee or tea and feel reenergized to keep studying or feel more prepared for the day ahead.

4. Kickboxing is always a great way to relieve and stop thinking with high energy. Go to a nearby gym or the gym at school and punch the bag they have.

5. Eat yogurt more. I recently read that in an article, haven't tried it myself but why not see if it helps.

6. Eat some ice cream, ice cream is always a good help if you need a pick me up.

7. Sit and just stare off in the distance for a bit, it clears your mind.

8. Talk it out with someone. When I'm anxious, my mom is always a help to calm me down.

9. Taking a walk works wonders too. It gives your head a little break.

10. Take more breaks while studying but make them shorter, always seems to help me relax but still get stuff done.

11. Watch a funny video on YouTube.

12. Just sit and take deep breaths and try to refocus as your brain may not be 100% focused on what you may have been working on.

13. Smile for a while. Even if its hard, it won't do any harm.

Anxiety is just beating your brain at its own game. Take care of yourself and treat yourself well. Sleep my mom says is always the answer but just all in all try to stay as positive as you can be.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
